Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

the whole thing with "will there be more star wars" after lucas dies !!! well he has a son and i no that he has taken a lot of interest in his father's work .. but rele will they be the same ! everyone fan will no the diffferances .

everyone knows that his original plan was to release 9 and the scripts have been written but they cnt cast harrison ford, carrier fisher or mark hamil unless they fast forwarded the years a lot which they could do but it wouldnt fit the stories that have been published and would you accept new actors.

my uncle who lives in OZZZ works at the Lucas HQ have heard rumours that he is conflicted about doing the movie because the story has neatly been finished and he wants the last 3 to be livd in the books and games.
if he released them in film he would probably outsell every film ever released in the first day.

i would the eu to be put in film esp the knights of the republic because then we can c the resemblance of our unique games with the films because kotor 1 and 2 were independatly played and there was no right or wrong way so i cnt wait !!!!

reply further plz !!!

i no exactly wat u mean some of the writers bring shame to the legacy and some books are annoying boringly and missin details and plots !!!

Lucas has said time and time again there will be no Episodes 7,8 & 9 and he is not likely to die soon. Unless he becomes seriously poorer I can't see him changing his mind on that. But I think there could be enough material to make a film about Han Solo and Leia's children.
The 3 recent films were dispointingly Spiritless and lacking in magic of the first 3, I think there'd be even less hope of an equal to 'The Empire Strikes Back' in 40 years time

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

I certainly hope there won't be more films. I'm eagerly awaiting more games though. KOTOR I and II were both great, and I'd much rather see people work their magic in that area, than attempting sequels to the original story. Jedi Academy was enough.
But if anything has to happen, I pray it'll be after Lucas has left us, because he is, in my honest opinion, a terrible director.

I was hoping that before doing a KOTORIII they might fix the horrible bugs and story ending from KOTORII, but they won't, so I just hope that they won't release it before the programmers have finished with it this time.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

I hope there will be no more Star Wars movies, especially if they continue in the same groove as the last three.

I loved the original three movies and there were an integral part of my growing up and one of the reasons I love the genre so much. I still remember going to the cinema, in school uniform, with my dad to watch all three movies. The school was down the road from the cinema so my dad would buy tickets to the show just after school was done for the day.

My brother was not a fan of the genre then and neither was my mother who prefererred dragons to light sabres.

The last batch of three movies were a grave dissapointment. They had no magic and no soul. The plots barely hung together and didn't make much sense by any stretch of the imagination.

Perhaps I came to them expecting the same magic the first three had and perhaps that was too much to ask.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

i feel about the same, nesacat, even tho i didn't wear dresses to school.

there was barely a single likeable character in the recent movies, and many more fairly annoying characters. add to that awkward, wooden dialogue, scenes with little emotional resonance and a number of key plot turns that were highly unconvincing and it wasn't a very good recipe.

it's like lucas forgot everything he had learned that made american graffitti and the first three films so enjoyable, including when to let people with more talent in certain areas do their thing.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I definitely believe Star Wars will live on. I just hope that the future writers of books, and maybe even films or TV shows will live up to George Lucas's legacy. I just hope they do a better job at writing the love scenes. George really struggled with those.

Those were not love scenes. Those were examples of how NOT to write love scenes. I swear if I were planning on running away with someone and he spouted those lines, I'd just fall over laughing and that would be the end of that.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

I must admit that I fervently hope that this one is dead, ended, kaput, and put in the ground. I hate to be so negative, but I really did like the first two films, was about 50-50 on Jedi... and (with a few scenes excepted) absolutely abominated the last three. As far as I'm concerned, they were in many ways worse than some of thost gawdawful 1950s sf-horror films (I'm not talking the ones that have held up, I'm talking the really awful stuff, like Atomic Submarine, etc.) in writing -- though of course the special-effects budget was much, much better.

But that's the problem -- and a common one with any sort of fantastic fiilm genre these days -- confusing slick looking special effects with quality. These films were anything but quality, and I had to be blackmailed into going to see the final one, basically. Some nice visuals, but plot holes you could drive an entire planetary system through.

It's a pity. I really would have liked to have liked these. I wasn't expecting the same as the originals, I was expecting some growth, and some maturity from Lucas as a storyteller and filmmaker... something to show that he hadn't just stayed in the same place over the intervening years. Well, he hadn't... but it wasn't a forward movement, either....

S.W. -- R.I.P.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

Have you noticed that many of the books (good books anyway) about star wars try and move away from the Jedi Code, and a lot of the things that Lucas put into the wise characters' mouths?
I mean "Do or do not, there is no try," and "Love is dangerous." Its ridiculous, the way to teach a student is to allow them failures. If there is no love, there is no reason to help anyone. Let the writers write, and let the conceptualist keep the input to the script vague!

I think there is certainly more mileage that can be milked from the Star Wars universe. Six movies can't (and doesn't) address the many storylines that have been started in the SW universe. The timeline between episiodes 3 and 4 (note to George, we'll need to focus on episode names, not numbers) are full of potential for development, and I hope that that area gets developed better. (The world of ep's 7, 8, and 9 have been written about considerably in the New Jedi Order).

One thing that is important IMO is that a theatrical release of a new Star Wars movie is a significant event in the world at large, like the Super Bowl is in the USA (not sure what the equivalents are in other nations, sorry). And like the Super Bowl, not every one is happy with the results but no one would suggest that the game go away. It is part of popular culture. Star Wars may not be the best directed science fiction productions, but they are the best known and can still command attention (and $$$) 30 years later. Star Wars has undoubtedly been the most successful scifi in touching the minds of mainstream (i.e. non scifi) people in its time. At that point, thoughts on quality of direction aren't that significant IMHO.
