What a way to start the day...

Well, we're having some excitement around here this morning. Seems we've got a couple of guys with semi-automatic weapons loose and running from the police about a block from here. Guess they tried to rob a bank, the cops started chasing them - I saw the police cars rushing by on the street just north of us - they shot at the cops, and now they've abandoned their car and are now on foot. Getting news breaks on the television and everything.

I just hope they stay up in that block till the cops catch them. It's too early in the morning for this crap. Okay, they just said that they're moving more to the west from us. Hope that's right. But I'm still hearing sirens.

Definitely, Paige. I've been sitting here watching and listening to the police helicopters circling, but everything's locked up tight. So far, they're staying to the north and west.

Hey LMA...why don't you grab this opportunity with both hands and make yourself a hero....attack one of them from behind with a saucepan..you never know...there might be a reward.

Tiny...See those pin-feathers behind my ears? Those are chicken feathers. I'll just let the cops - according to the news, there are about 100 of them out there chasing these guys, all the way from local to state to the FBI - do their job and stay nice and safe (one hopes) in my house.

Besides, if I clocked one with a pan, then I'd have to wash it. I do everything I possibly can to keep dishwashing to a minimum.

By the way, I still hear the 'copters out there circling.

If it had bits of perpetrator hair and scalp on it, you could sell it on eBay for $1438.50.

Just a thought.

I hope that they catch those guys soon! Until they do keep an extra eye out and make sure they stay at least out of seeing distance from you.

Re: What a way to start the day...

They're still looking for them, as of just after noon, local time (this has been going on since just after 8 this morning).

I just feel sorry for the Fresno State students who got locked down in their apartment complexes where the cops think the guys are hiding and who could end up getting dropped from classes for not showing up because they couldn't get to class. It's the first day of class for Tuesday/Thursday classes (school started yesterday), and a lot of instructors will drop students who don't show up for the first session.

Anyway, just thought you all would like an update.

Re: What a way to start the day...

Thanks for the update. You're in Fresno? I'm in SF. And I know what you mean about getting dropped from classes. I had my first day yesterday. My 'film and society' professor made it a point to let everyone know they have to be at the first 2 classes or they will be dropped. Oh how I love trying to find parking on the first day of class... NOT. I was a tad late, but just made it for attendance.

Re: What a way to start the day...

According to the update on now, there was quite a bit more gunplay than they had been saying earlier, which doesn't make me happy at all. They've got two guns and one suspect in custody, but the other guy has apparently gotten away, although they say they know who he is and they think he may have been wounded.

No word on whether the school is taking all the mayhem into consideration as far as people late to or missing classes.

By the way, philo, nice to meet another Californian. Hope your semester goes well and parking gets better.
