my opinion of The Dreamers

I've only just finished the first two books and I can't go any farther. It's like bad anime. Repeating dialogue, useless flashbacks, storyline that goes nowhere, and 2 dimensional charictars.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

I've read the series, bad habit of mine, not being able to leave a series unfinished.Longbow and Rabbit weren't bad characters, even if they where just rehashes from previous books.Ara was a complete rip off of Polgara. The series was dull and predictable with a few snippits of humour.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

For a while I played "Spot the character" mapping various ones back to their equivalents in The Belgariad. Even that got boring after a while.

The Dreamers is like the outline of an interesting story, yet some how that story never actually gets told.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

One of the main problems I had was their lack of any real emotion. It's was like "Oh look, there is a god. You don't see that everyday." Or "The monsters are attacking, we should probably do something about that."

i agree the series is repetetive cashing in, i dont know what happened to eddings its like he gave up, does not care anymore as long as some one buys it, but at this rate he will lose any and all readers

You got through *two* books, I'm impressed at your persistence

I only read the first one, and I'm very glad I didn't pay for a copy. He just isn't even trying any more.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

i had to force my way through them all, to review them...YAWN!! but like you im glad i did not have to buy them...but whats harder is having to be able to write something nice about them in the review, as well as critic them..now that was hard.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

I recently finished reading this series, and I was disappointed, to tell the truth. Aside from a couple, the characters seemed similar to the ones from other Eddings' books, and I didn't like the ending at all. I'd like to be more positive about it, though. Maybe I missed some of the good points when I read it.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

No, not really! I read all four of them, because I can't stand to leave a series unfinished either, but I just took all four of them to a used bookstore and handed them in. I doubt I'd ever want to read them again.

Reading some of these other posts, I'm sort of glad I'm not the only one who didn't like it too much.

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

the ending of the series made the entire four books pointless

::Spoilers::

"Oh, poor Longbow has no one to love, lets alter history and **** everything up just for him so he can get laid finally and remove that bow thats been shoved up his ass for the last twenty or whatever years"

:Spoiler End:

now don't get me wrong, I love David Eddings work, but the Dreamers was the worse piece of crap I have ever read but because I'm like Storm Pirate, once I start a series I have to finish it

Re: my opinion of The Dreamers

I couldn't agree more about the ending, Riven. I really felt let down - after reading all of the books, I was hoping against hope for something different.
