Re: Campaigning... I think there needs to be a little more interest before Ben Bova is added to the list, zorca. There's a few threads about him already, but none of them have many posts, sadly. There needs to be more discussion before we give him an entire board. But here's your chance.... I've never read anything by Ben Bova. Why should I?

Re: Campaigning... The Orion series were the first Bova books I read and I really enjoyed them. It was similar in approach to some of David Gemmell's psuedo-historical novels but instead of a magical approach they used science (although not to any great detail) to try and explain how & why he was sent to certain historical periods. The main antagonist was 'Apollo' and he created the Orion character to act as his proxy in certain key periods of time to change them to his advantage. Sadly, Orion tended not to obey him. The entire series is from the viewpoint of Orion and how he comes with being at the beck and whim of a 'god'. I've also just started book 1 in his "Asteroid Wars" series.

But while we're on the subject I remmeber being totally blown away by the Dueling Machine as a kid and more or less hating everything else I've read by him. I have a pervading image of tough heros called Dan. | |

Re: Campaigning... Yeah that's the way it is done here on chronicles (shame on you zorcarepublic for not knowing, while being a relatively older member )You start threads about a writer and when they start to dominate certain boards, you get shipped away to your own section.

Re: Campaigning... Older? You've got four months on me! ![]() There are a few people who have got sub-forums even though, in at least two to three years of looking around, I've never heard of them. Ben Bova, however, is known by quite a few people, and has a good quality of writing...

Re: Campaigning... It's simply that when a particular author has a lot of threads discussing their work, they get their own section. There's nothing to stop any other authors being discussed in the Books & Literature section - and when they get enough discussions, they get a board to highlight that they are particularly talked about, that's all. ![]()
