Re: Who is Robbs heir? Rickon is a wolf in bear's clothing. CS, sorry that I did not see your Feb. 15 response sooner. Wow! You found mention of attainder... Kudos to you, my friend. Now if you'll just assist me in removing my foot from my mouth... I've not yet finished Seward's history on the York/Lancaster struggle, but I read earlier today that one man survived long enough to see his side back in power and his attainder reversed... he lived longer and saw the other side gain power and sign a second bill of attainder against him.

Re: Who is Robbs heir? Ohhhhh, good one Egg. I actually forgot about Rickon. Though I am not sure they would reveal him as alive yet. But, who knows? Last edited by Charming Serpent; 27th February 2008 at 08:13 PM.

Re: Who is Robbs heir? OR...oh, heck, who am I kidding I have no clue. I do however think that Bear Island would be far too obvious a place to hide an heir. Of course they'll check the family's most loyal bannermen. Jon? But they dismissed that in conference...of course it was Caitlyn who dismissed it...maybe Robb possessed more political acumen than we thought and understood that his mother wasn't all that brilliant?

Re: Who is Robbs heir? 4th, are you talking about when Robb wanted to make Jon his heir and Catelyn argued against it?? If that is so then you must not remember when Robb tell his mother that after the wedding she is going to Seagard with Mallister. At the end of that chapter Robb is telling his bannerman who he wants to succeed him (Jon) and as their King commands them to fix their seals. I have no clue where Rickon is though. Greywater, maybe. Or perhaps White Harbor.

Re: Who is Robbs heir? If the Mormont's know that Ricken is still alive then they nor that Bran is also alive and he would still be Rob's legal heir. But if Rob legitimized Jon, then he would be the elder, therefore the heir. Speaking of Bran, he is with Coldhands on his way to learn how to fly. Remember: 'The dragon has three heads'. Dany for fire, Jon for Ice and Bran could learn to fly, if he had a dragon. Bran & Dany? She can not conceive, he can not breed and the poor bastard stays on the wall?

Re: Who is Robbs heir? Personally I think the wildling woman took Rickon off into the wilderness to await the results of all these wars. If the Starks or their allies return to power she can find great favor by producing Rickon, and if they don't, well, she can garner favor with whoever does. Legality aside, since the current Westerosi circumstances aren't that conducive to lawfulness and exactness and such, the identity of Robb's heir is really a moot point, since Winterfell will belong to whichever Stark can rebuild and hold it. I don't see them fighting over a castle among themselves after all the sh*t they've been through. If indeed they do reclaim it. In my opinion the most likely to rebuild or reclaim Winterfell are Sansa and Bran. Sansa because I foresee her becoming a great Lady with her impending marriage and the will to do so. I think her snow castle in the Eyre was foreshadowing. Bran because, although IMO more unlikely, his namesake was a legendary builder. Weak reasoning, I know, but GRRM has a habit of things like that turning out to mean something. I sincerely doubt Jon will ever be more than Lord Commander. I don't think he wants, or will want, to ever be more than that. Arya is not interested in politics or settling down. At least not at this juncture, things could change.

Re: Who is Robbs heir? I agree with you. But he was weak before, with Ygritte. It is possible, though I think unlikely, that it could happen again. Not another Ygritte, I couldn't handle that, but another test of his vows. Lots of people like Jon Snow and want to see him become some sort of Lord to flaunt his worth in spite of being a bastard, but I don't think *he* would want that. It is my opinion that he is or will be an excellent Lord Commander.

If JOn was told Robb named him, i think he would accept it, because then it was the Starks and the North that offered it. So if Jon was named heir by Robb i think he would accept, but thats just me. ![]() | |

Re: Who is Robbs heir? I want to add....because this is my thread dammit and I doubt anyone has read through the previous ten pages of cogent discussion.... Robb may not have named Jon his heir. He argued the point with his mother, then dismissed her and as the door was slamming shut on his council meeting he says something about his assembled lords affixing their seal to what he was about to say. I think in retrospect its likely he did (because theres just no one else) but theres always a possibility he didnt. The best alternative discussed was maybe he named someone a regent until a heir was named by the assembled lords. He had to handle his succession, that much is clear by his conversation with his mother....so he had to name someone strong enough to hold the north without being a danger to the progeny of Sansa and Arya (if they were to be freed)....so I present to you.....The Blackfish....regent of the north.

Re: Who is Robbs heir? I like this idea. Now all he has to do is run into Rickon while on the run from the Lannisters. Knowing Martin he will run into Rickon and his wildling nanny but not recognize him. Then they will head in different directions and we will all scream. WHY.....GEORGE......WHY!!!!!!!!!!
