The Gathering Storm (some spoilers)

I just finished The Gathering Storm and what a book! I think it was the best book so far because I never expected...




(Spoiler Below~!)







The Cataclysm to take place until the final book! It must come from reading Robert Jordan's WoT series and realizing that the last battle will never actually occur.

So it was a complete surprise to me when it all took place in this book. Of course I could see it coming before the end but I never realized the world was about to end before the characters did, so it was very much like being along for that ride.

This series just seems to get better and better, I really look forward to the last two books now and I still have not ordered the final book, I suppose I better go do that now!

Edit: In the Ruins...I noticed Kates note at the front of this book where she appoligizes for having to split the final book into two books. It seems like so many authors now write these huge complicated stories that are so long they become a publishing problem. We need only look at George RR Martin's latest book to see the same thing, well almost, his differing only in how he split up the book. I think this trend for large stories is good but I wonder how much it is driven by the publishing industry and how much by the authors themselves.
