Probably, it'll be about the colonisation. That's all you need to know ...

I'm not sure because....

As for the sequel film's storyline, Carter said, "Not a mythology one, for sure!"
Wouldn't that rule out any colonisation plot in favour of a one-off monster-of-the-week story?

Personally, I would much rather see a final closure to the mythology.

This is from Hailing Frequencies:
Quote:
Gillian Anderson told Newsday that they need to hurry up and make the second X-Files movie: "The longer we wait, the less people are going to give a --. It was supposed to be shot this year, and there are contract issues. We're basically ready to go."
I wholeheartedly agree with those sentiments. It's been so long now I've forgotten all about it.

Second X-Files Movie

I've heard rumors that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have signed on to do another X-Files movie. Has anybody else heard this, or am I just making stuff up?

Re: The X-Files Movie...2?

I have heard rumors, also. I first read about it in a Rolling Stone issue around a year ago. I haven't heard anything since, but if you are interested in a post about the subject regardless, the appropiate link is below.

I hope that they do make another X-Files movie. I would definitally go see it but I have not heard David Duchovny make any mention of it.

Re: Second X-Files Movie

I merged the two threads on this subject.

There is actually some news on this this week. David Duchovny has been interviewed here:
IESB.net - Independent Entertainment News - X-Files 2 Negotiations Wrap This Week Says Duchovny!
This has been reported at both Hailing Frequencies and SciFi Wire.

Apparently, the contracts are going to be signed this week. EW reports that Gillian Anderson's manager Connie Freiberg says, ''there's no obstacles other than the delivery of a great script.''
We Want to Believe | The X-Files | Movie News | Movies | Entertainment Weekly

David Duchovny says that there is a story board at least. It is going to be more Horror than SciFi. It will only have the core characters, and no Robert Patrick.

I'd take this with a pinch of salt though - just look at the earliest posts in this thread!

Re: Second X-Files Movie

Although I can't wait for XFM2 and I know quite a lot of other people will be just as excited by the prospect, I can't see how they are going to attract the man in the street to go and see the movie of a series that ended years ago and endured a noticable viewing slump in its latter years. This may seem overly pessimistic - The X Files is a big part of my life, but I'm well aware that I'm in the minority in 2007.

I agree, which is why I thought it was dead in the water, but every few years we get these reports that contracts are just about to be signed, storyboards are completed and the cast is ready.

I don't know why that is. If I was very cynical (as I was earlier in the thread) then I would say that Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, all have done nothing since the X-Files and need this to boost their careers, but that is not completely true.

Re: Second X-Files Movie

Good points, Dave.

Even if they began filming tomorrow, if we still be Autumn/Winter 2008 before the film hit theatres, I just don't see anyone except diehard fans going to see it and given season eight and nine's viewing figures that wouldn't be enough.

I think they've left it too late, but I hope that I'm totally and utterly wrong.

imdb.com/title/tt0443701/

Given that the status is Post-Production, the Trailer is out (as a bootleg, official release is rumored to be with Ironman) and the release date is set: 25/07/2008 I'd say the chances are good the film is gonna happen.
