Question re: DS9 ep.

In the DS9 ep., "The Sound of Her Voice", Captain Cusak is stranded on a Class L planet & is running out of Triox. She'll die of C02 poisoning unless the Defiant gets to her in time.

In other Trek series (I especially think in Voyager), people were on -- and/or stranded on -- Class L planets for more than a day or two. Was this ever mentioned as a problem? I don't recall it & wonder if anyone else does.

You do realise that they mostly made this stuff up as they went along, only you ask the question as if they knew what they were talking about? When every writer writes something different there are bound to be continuity errors, although they had people like Michael Okuda (Chronology) and Andre Bormanis (Science Advisor) to try and catch these.

At some point in the show, they also began using Geoffrey Mandel's 'Star Trek: Star Charts' as a writers reference. From that point, there is more consistency in the use of planetary classifications (though it does not hold true for many Star Trek novels.)

In the Star Trek Star Charts, Class L is Marginal, located within the stars ecosphere, Oxygen/Argon atmosphere, with High Concentration of Carbon Dioxide, limited to plant life, suitable for humanoid colonization.

I guess that all kinds of different planets could be included, with a wide variety of different CO2 levels. So, it could be possible to require Triox on one planet, but live for a day or two on another.

LOL, You give me too much credit, Dave.

I thought people like Michael Okuda and Andre Bormanis were pretty vigilant the whole way through & so things like this weren't supposed to happen.

I've never heard of Geoffrey Mandel's 'Star Trek: Star Charts', but that does give me more insight to why more things may've been consistent re: planets.

Guess I really thought they tried to have some type of continuity. However, the more I watch & ask ques. the more people tell me 'No.'

Thanks.

Re: Question re: DS9 ep.

Most of the series were pretty good about continuity up till Enterprise which rewrote TOS with continuity errors or purposeful choices.
