| 28.06: The Age of Steel The second part of 'The Rise of the Cybermen'. The Cybermen take control of London and start converting the populace, in the conclusion of this gripping two-part episode. While Jackie falls under John Lumic’s control, the Doctor, Rose and Mickey are reduced to fugitives in a world of terror. A last, desperate attack on the Cyberfactory is their only chance -- but will they all survive? First off, I was disappointed the way that the Doctor used the time vortex energy in the charging Tardis power cell to disintegrate the Cybermen that had surrounded them. This may have been no different to what Rose had done to the Daleks in 'The Parting of the Ways', but it was much too much of 'Flash Gordon'/'Batman' easy way out of the cliffhanger for me. After that it did get better... When Rose remembers the Cyberman's head she found in the episode 'Dalek', the Doctor explains that the origin of the about Cybermen in this universe is not an overwriting of the events of the original series in our universe and the origins of the Cybermen noted in 'The Tenth Planet'. Mrs Moore reveals that her real name is Angela Price. I'm sure that at some point we might see her again in the usual universe. Shock! I didn't see this coming! Mickey stayed back in this parallel world. Since the Tardis can't travel through parallel worlds, Mickey is stuck there forever. Is this the end that we will see of Mickey? |
