Bajoran Jewelry

I've watched the first 2 seasons of DS9 and I must admit, my season 3 download just won't come in fast enough.

Today while watching TNG, I noticed Ensign Ro's ear ornament was on her left ear. But it seems that all the Bajorans I've seen on DS9 have it on the right ear. Has anyone else noticed that? I always thought Trek was big on continuity.

I looked a bit for a thread but didn't see one. Sorry if this has been discussed.

Hmm...not sure. Maybe Dave would know.

I'll have to check some of the other eps. where there are other prominent Bajorans.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I don't know either. If it's true, and I'll take your word for it, it could just be a change they made between TNG and the bible written for DS9. They almost totally changed the Trills between the two series, though why change the side of an earing seems a pointless thing to do. It's most likely a mistake, a nit.

Just one thought though, the majority of earing wearers I saw in DS9 were male, it isn't a male/female difference is it?

If I'm remembering correctly, all the Bajorans I've seen on DS9 have been wearing the jewelry. It's probably more like you (Dave) said, the Bajoran race was probably tweaked a bit before DS9. I just don't see why the writers would change something like that given the loyalty of the fans.

Maybe they thought it was more photo-genic (or something) from one side as apposed to the other.

Or . . maybe they thought the general Earth Culture based Right Good or better than the Left thing some how worked better.
Hmm . . I'm being vague, but I think I'd have to research and type a page to accurately describe what I mean.

Also . . Was Rho a bit of an outcast or something?
Maybe she chose to defy tradition or came from a rare sub-culture?
But, that seems like it would have taken a lot of forethought, so I doubt it.

You are joking right. Star trek could rarely keep any sembalence of continuity. geordi's visor used to drive me nuts because of that. one episode it could do one thing and the next it seemed it couldn't.

I just saw the ep. where Ro joins the Enterprise & she did put it on her left ear, while I notice Kira wears it on her right so there is definitely something going on here.

I just watched another episode with Ro when she rejoins Enterprise and is asked to go on an undercover mission. In this case, she wore no jewelry...maybe she was just "off" in general.
