Star Trek is the most missed TV series

According to a recent poll by Home Media Networks, reported by the BBC and SciFi Wire:

Brits Miss Star Trek The Most

The original Star Trek is the show most Britons want to see returned to U.K. TV, according to the results of a survey reported by the BBC. The show, which premiered in 1966, topped a poll of more than 1,000 viewers commissioned by the British interactive TV firm Home Media Networks, the BBC reported.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer came in second, followed by the long-running sitcom Friends.

The rest of the list:
4. Fawlty Towers
5. Blake's 7
6. The X-Files
7. Babylon 5
8. Stargate SG-1
9. Seinfeld
10. The A-Team.

Only SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1 is still in production and returns with original episodes on Jan. 6. [2006]

Wow, the original made first? That's impressive.

And, That's awesome that Stargate SG-1 made that list.

Still missing ST:TOS the most?

A couple of days ago, Infinity posted at the Pegasus Galaxy Forums.

A group of young filmakers, actors, and Star Trek fans have tackled the impossible:
What would've happened if the old show hadn't been cancelled?

Several people in the Star Trek franchise have taken notice. Specifically, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Fontana, Ron B. Moore, and a few others. All of which have contributed or will contribute to this endeavor.

They plan on making 44 episodes to fill in the last two seasons, and are writing the scripts as if they were actually making the fourth and fifth seasons.

The new pilot and first episode are part homage, and part concept pieces.
Moore and Fontana are volunteering their time to work on the later episodes.

Episodes are Torrented.
No one is getting paid for their time, effort, and love.
---------------------------------------
"Center Seat" - Five Minute Vignette (Concept)
"Come What May" - Re-Pilot
"In Harm's Way" - Episode One
---------------------------------------
"To Serve All My Days" - Episode Two: In Post-Production. Starring Walter Koenig
---------------------------------------
"World Enough and Time" - Episode Three:
"What Lies Beneath" - Episode Four

There is also a blooper reel which shows the actor that is now playing the young Chekov. Funny stuff. George Takei mentions it in his interview with StarTrek.com.

The other thing about those films that you didn't mention is that they ignore all the other incarnations of Trek (which are disliked by a good number of TOS fans.) So, they carry on just as if TOS was never cancelled and they never happened. 'Enterprise' never happened, there are no Ferengi, Klingons never make peace at Khitomer, etc.

One other thing regarding that survey - Stargate SG-1 is still being made. That doesn't say much for the people who took the survey if they didn't know that.

They've just started showing TOS on Sci Fi this week. They had a whole weekend of fave TOS episodes and I managed to catch a few, including of course the ever popular City on the Edge of Forever and Amok Time
