| Well, the explanation came some episodes back, and they had to network the computers back then to survive, so I'll have to let them off on that one. Adama actually had to trust Sharon in this. I'm not sure that I could, but there really wasn't much choice between three options - do nothing and die, jump and die, or have her try to remove the virus - She actually saved the whole fleet today - yet they still put her back in the cell. On the new Viper, I'm not so sure. I'm quite sure that the Chief has the technical ability, the patience and skill, but does he really have the right tools and materials to make it. I would have thought such a thing could only be made to precise measurements in a factory setting, with specialist metal alloys and ceramics, not by hand with a welding torch, some old junked engines and what looked like chair legs for the chasis. I almost laughed when Tigh took the bottle of still spirit. Good to see everyone getting dispirited eventually, but would they all do it at the same time? What changed this week? |

| Not seen a chief rigger feel for 'bruising' in years! I certainly never managed it on anything more modern than a Gnat. As the Phoenix is a one off, accuracy isn't over critical, you just make the bits fit and the box frame design is simple, strong and practical. Only really exotic materials in an aircraft are in the engine and avionics, so the ship's workshop should have all the gear to weld it together. So, yes, the Chief has all the wotsits to make a Viper. Nor was he aiming to create the ultimate fighting machine, or anything particularly special. The project and meaning grew as people realized he meant to create it. Funny how people climb on a bandwagon when it starts to look a success? The virus turn actually made some sense for once |
