cold pizza and warm beer thread

the very best things to eat for breakfast are cold pizza and warm beer, so i've been told. this is a thread for comfort things. things that we know are not really good for us, but remind us of home and hearth and mom. things like macdonalds burgers and kentucky fried chicken (which btw can also be substituted for cold pizza). its about niceness and and cute little pixies at the bottom of the garden (peeing on the petunias). it is the anti-vent and rant thread. please feel free to fill it up with lots of warm fuzzies.

Re: cold pizza and warm beer thread

You beat me to it - I was going to post a "favourites things" thread, as a couple of others have managed to bring a certain degree of negativity. So corrected here.

Last night I shouted at my eldest - had been a long day with kids and almost no work at all done. I felt crap after for it, and reflected on how I used to be so much closer to her, and how little attention I'm able to give the kids these days.

This morning she spontaneously hugged me, so I gave her a big hug back, then whelled her around in the air a bit and made her laughed. Something of the past again, made manifest in the future. I have to remember to ensure I keep myself open to those moments.

Cheesecake. Tuna-fish sandwiches. "The Day The Earth Stood Still". Old "Star Trek:TOS" reruns. Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" books (not to be confused with the abominable TV series). Sixties music. Clear, windy days. Staying in a motel room. Huddling under the covers in bed with a good book on a cold foggy or rainy day. Listening to far-off radio stations late at night.

These are a few of my favorite things.

A nice warm fire, hot chocolate and a good book. Doggy breath and kisses. Warm, sleeping cats in your lap. The complete abandon of kids and animals when they are free to play as they like. Shared laughter. Cookies straight from the oven. A big bowl of homemade chili with all the fixins and a cold beer to wash it down with. Inside jokes. Clean sheets. Coming home after a bad day to a home-cooked meal ready to eat. Playing board games with friends and family. Personal mail from someone you haven't heard from in a while. Surprises. A steaming cup of coffee, a quiet house and the internet all to myself. The wonder of nature.

I feel better already.

Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, for me. I can't get enough of cartoons and kiddie shows - except the ones meant for pre schoolers, those are way too post-modern and subversive for me!

My fiancee laying beside watching anime or just laying beside me (oh, i really miss her. she's going to university and i'm in college), playing magic the gathering, sitting down with some friends talking about world evetns and strategies for aixes and allies, warhammer, etc. doing stupid, dangerous things with good friends (EX: jumping out/off moving vechiles that are going 60-80 km/h). sitting down and being able to write ten pages without interuption. A good book. and a bottle of coke-cola.

Douglas Adams, cats, cordial, cuppas, Angry Beavers, being indoors when it is raining outdoors, Lewis Carroll,my bed (possibly the most comfortable place this side of Myanmar), drawing pictures of things that might be enough to get me certified if placed in the wrong hands, my pyjamas, fresh baked goods.
