| I really don't know him or his work. I had heard of Christopher Eccleston before, especially after '28 Days Later'. Tennant is another actor that Russel T Davies likes. The big news there is that there will be a 'regeneration sequence' this time around. I wish they would confirm or deny whether Eccleston was the Nineth Doctor. There was speculation that he is still Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor. |

Just that he is the same regeneration, but I admit that his character is very different. ![]() | ||

| The film was a... disapointment... Said more about what is wrong with American TV than anything else, a few fancy effects and a bag of jelly babies, but generally flat and lifeless. I do not think anybody would think any better of it if all they had ever seen was the new rendition. But it would be interesting to find out? For what it is worth the place to look is here http://64.46.119.37/forums/showthrea...&threadid=7076 |

| Back on Topic then... Tennant - Hot or Not? Who do you prefer? Eccleston or Tennant? Or someone else? Tennant Trivia: David Tennant is Scottish. He was born on 18 April 1971 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, UK. That makes him much younger than any previous Doctor actors - born 9 years after the first episode aired. Tennant was born David McDonald but changed his name as there was an actor with the same name already on the books of Equity. He adopted the professional name "Tennant" — inspired by Neil Tennant, the lead singer of the Pet Shop Boys. He grew up in Ralston, Renfrewshire, where his father was the local minister, and later a Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. He attended Ralston Primary School, Paisley Grammar and graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He decided to be an actor at the age of three. Tennant told his parents that he wanted to become an actor because he was mad about Doctor Who. He was asked to abandon his Scottish accent to play the Time Lord. He was nominated for a 2003 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actor of 2002 for his performance in "Lobby Hero" performed at the Donmar Warehouse and the New Ambassador's Theatres. In January 2006, readers of the British gay and lesbian newspaper 'The Pink Paper' voted Tennant the "Sexiest Man in the Universe" over David Beckham and Brad Pitt. A poll of over 10,000 women for the March 2006 issue of 'New Woman' magazine ranked him 20th in their list of the "Top 100 Men". After moving to London, England in the early 1990s, Tennant lodged with comic actress and writer Arabella Weir, with whom he became close friends and then godfather to one of her children. (He later appeared as a guest in her spoof television series 'Posh Nosh'). As of 2006, Tennant is dating actress Sophia Myles, who appears with him in the upcoming 'Doctor Who' episode 'The Girl in the Fireplace'. |

| Who do you prefer? Eccleston or Tennant? Or someone else? I do prefer Eccleston, terribly. I found him to be very fresh and different - his smile and dorkish sincerity really made the character enjoyable. It's a shame he's decided to leave. |

| Re: The Doctor (David Tennant) Tennant for sure. And I am one of the fans who actually enjoyed the TV Movie, and no not because I am american lol. I liked the Doctor and Master having it out on Earth one last time, at the eve of the New Millenium. That is what impressed me the most. It really took the rivalry and long-standing feud of the Doctor and Master to new-albiet controversial- heights. Ok lol back on topic: David Tennant. Yeh. He IS the Doctor. Mind, Ive only seen up to The Girl in the Fireplace but am even more impressed with him and his kind of stories. Hope he stays on a while. We need a good three-year Doctor again, like the old days. |

| Re: The Doctor (David Tennant) Tennant, without a shadow of a doubt. I just feel he brings more oomph to the part, I can't explain it very well, I simply think he's the better Doctor although Eccleston was very good in his own right. xx Last edited by Adasunshine; 23rd October 2006 at 10:25 AM.
