Exclamation Nitpicks Thread

Now I like the show enough to keep watching, but I do have some nitpicks about it.

Since these aren't nitpicks for specific episodes.
They relate to storylines and themes that run through almost every episode.

Just in case I'll put them in spoiler blocks.

Boomer is a Cylon . . I think they beat the life out of that story. We've known from almost the first few moments.
Such a story line should be subtle, but instead they hit us over the head with it in almost every episode.

A storyline like Boomer should be subtle and intriguing, but instead it's frustrating. When will they get it?

The Caprica-Boomer storyline seems pointless. So, far it's an episode or two
worth of drab plot that is cut up into niblets.

Ms. Blond and Robotic (No. 6)
The sexuality is still a little over emphasized. Give me Science Fiction not Si-Fi-Sex.

Cylons-Believe in One God
At first it seemed sort of ironic, humans believe in the Gods, but robots know there can only be one. That would make it somewhat cleaver, but it's so in your face most of the time.
Where are they going with this storyline?
Does the Cylon's view of God involve any morals?

The earth-thy realalism of the show that was so promising in the pilot . .
[Seen in stuff like the bodies flying off into space]
It sometimes drown out by everyting else.

I agree partly with some of that, but can I ask, have you seen all of the first season yet? It sounds like you haven't. Only some of that is explained by the end, and some is ongoing into season 2 (in fact, from an interview with Ron Moore that I read, well into season 2!) That makes it difficult to critique when you don't know all the facts yet.

The Boomer is a Cylon bit is perhaps one of the more interesting twists on the who is the spy formula?
We know she is the enemy, but they don't and certainly wouldn't believe it, so they chase up every blind alley possible rather than face the obvious.

Otherwise I agree, some of the rest is like watching paint dry- Capricia being not the least of them. It does come to some form of head.

I haven't seen the last two episodes.

I guess you are right about not judging the whole season.

But at the same point I think there should be a quality of story episode by episode.

My overall nit is that more than a few storylines are over done through out the show.

If the episodes were like baked goods I would say they are nice choclate cake, but it has clumps of flower in it that never got stirred in.

It lacks the subtlety and grace that shows like Babalon 5 have.

Part of that is that they want to be diffrent from other Science fiction.
They want to be gritty and down to earth.

But watching shouldn't make you want to fast forward to the good stuff.

I have a nitpik when starbuck was crashing did you notice that she had an altimeter in her cockpit? Altimeters work by air pressure difference, that's a neat trick in space don't you think.

That's not so bad, this IS science fiction so I guess you could design an altimeter that worked on gravitational attraction, or on something like Radar.

Quick little nit/pick here. I'm watching 1-11 Colonial Day. Early on in this episode, Kara and Lee going over the security plans on cloud 9 when Kara picks up a garden hose and starts chasing Lee and spraying him with. During the chase she makes many quick cuts and turns on what is supposed to be a bum knee.

Later on when they catch the assassin, she acts like she can barely walk...hobbling around like a gimp. I guess one could say she aggravated the injury, but I’d rather say it's just a miss on the editors part and worthy of a spot in the nitpick thread

I have to say I might be the only one who sees no flaws with this show. I think this is the best constructed show I have ever seen. It had the perfect sequence of action and drama.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA IS THE BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!

And I am rooting for the resignation of Baltar in the next season, they need Roslin back for the sake of humanity.

Peace, Rick
