I live in New Zealand, and trust me, there is nothing cute about them as far as I'm concerned. They are freaky insects that jump out at you when you least expect it. Some even bite - although its not fatal like a poisonous spider, just painful; possibly infectious.

The one featured in the picture is one of the "Giant Weta" species, and is gentler, hence why safe to hold in his hand. Other's, like the Tree Weta, are not so friendly.

Re: picture of the day!

Now that I'd be interested to try, maybe not diet version though.

How about this:

Probably be quite good. I'm feeling something towards mojito when I look at it.

Really? I was thinking about trying it.

A few years ago on a hot summer day, I was driving down the highway and saw this truck, I said..."Oh man, don't do this to me...must have it, now." Advertising works, it's my favorite soda. Yeah, on my first stop, I got one. I like Coke/Lime too.

*i pronounced it "gewarent" but knew that was what i meant. the adults around me only got as far as "drink" not what I wanted to drink.

Definitely one of my favourites, and possibly the only house that Grand Designs/Kevin McCloud has gone back to twice, once is the video shown on the link, where Ben Law, the house builder now has a partner and a baby son, and then again a few years later when he's had to extend the house for his 2nd child. Check out his website for more info on Eco Building . . http://www.ben-law.co.uk/

I wish I knew how/had the confidence and tools to work with wood in that way, because I'd love to make lovely things, like his house, or this:

Made out of ordinary wood pallets - it's just gorgeous!!!

Re: picture of the day!

A couple of pretty cool wildlife shots, taken by an amazing photographer - Bjorn Jensen. I should have added the credit to him for the last two 'cute' photo's that I posted too

Wow! That bird with the butterfly in his mouth is beautiful. God creates animals like astounding works of art (among other natural things).

Nice pallet table too.

Here is Godzilla, er, I mean an actor inside the costume taking a break behind the scenes. I can imagine the man in the monster suit can get pretty warm in that outfit. (1960's photo)

That reader should be careful: the script looks like longhand.
