Well if a virus is written for pc's it won't work on a mac. This means that you would need to write a virus especially for macs. (Which would not work on pc's) Now that means that your virus would have to spread from mac to mac, but most computers are pc's so the spread of the virus would be extremely limited and if those computers get cured of the virus, while it hasn't had the opportunity to spread, the virus is done for. Other than that, there are security updates for mac, so even if you wrote a mac virus, it would most likely be killed within a couple of days after support finds it and writes a security update. It's just not worth the effort.

Apple Macs don't run .exe files, I believe. Rather they've got .dmg files (is it?). Mobile phones that get viruses are usually those with the Sumbian OS, which I'd imagine can also run .exe's. Seeing as PC viruses are applications with the .exe extension, they won't run on Macs, and since any Mac viruses will use the Mac extension for applications, they won't run on a PC.

Erm... ignore the above slightly.

What I meant to say, was that to install apps on a Mac you drag and drop the install file from the DMG (Disk Image file) into the App folder. Which means that traditional viruses can't fun themselves, because they won't be installed.

And you can open .dmg files on a Windows PC, you just need software to do it.
