Re: picture of the day!

Very nice! (Yes, I made it here, see? I was trying to compose one of my mammoth replies to Wy's e-mails.)

But those first four are brilliant! I don't think I ever saw the edited versions of them. The bird's mehish... *ducks and hides* And I think sun would help with the last shot, though it is very good too! But the sun seems to hide when we get our cameras out... grrr.

But yay! You finally posted!!! Keep posting more!

(I hope you don't mind me being critical. It's a habit I have. )

Oh, and I definitely agree about the ads; some of them look a little... um...

Yes, so many small birds are called sparrows that a genuine sparrow can't tell either.

Yes, I have accounts on both, but today neither would let me upload - crashed and froze So I'm temporarily using this host till I can find one that works, or they work for me again. Also, I have no idea about the ads - I have them all blocked. Apologies if they're somewhat... offensive

And Leish - that last shot is HDR - it was meant to bring out the moody clouds, Missy!

But always criticism is appreciated

Re: picture of the day!

Ooh... I'm known for my criticism...

Heh. And those ads gave me a laugh, actually, especially the Obama and Hilary one.

Anyway, I'm off to reply to Wybren. Adios for now! Maybe I'll be back again afterward... I don't know... But after 12 I'm editing, since I have so many great first chapter comments to bolster my writing!

Saw this on another forum just now, I think it looks awesome! Maybe because I'm a boat geek

Or, perhaps, a sculpture geek.

Re: picture of the day!

I wouldn't dispute that; but it would still be a CGI of a sculture: that's not a boat in the traditional meaning of the word, i.e. a vessel in which you can travel across water.

It looks like a fountain to me... Not really CGI, I think

Re: picture of the day!

No Ursa I can assure you that you are incorrect.

I have it on good authority that this vessel has just finished an epic return journey lasting a year and a day from the land where the Bong-tree grows.

It's crew were a recently married couple a one Mr. T. Owel and Miss A Pussy.

Re: picture of the day!

Well, Pussy never goes anywhere without her T. Owel...

Don't see why it should be CGI - it's not that difficult to set up a fountain like that.

Re: picture of the day!

I think we see CGI here (which it may or may not be) simply because we're so used to assuming that anything out of the ordinary is generated in this way.

Re: picture of the day!

That? CGI?! Rubbish! You must all be living with a cloth over your eyes. It's quite clearly Photoshopped - look, you can even see the white border around bits of it still.

Maybe I'm too much of an engineer, and was looking at stuff like pressure loss in the "sail" which would make it behave like that etc

Re: picture of the day!

The water in the foreground (at the bottom of the image) doesn't look quite right - but this doesn't mean it isn't real.
