| Re: picture of the day! SNOPES says this is true THIS IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA. THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS MUST BE MET. CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET, WITH JUST THE RIGHT DENSITY OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN MUST HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES. THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED THIS WEEK ON THE IDAHO/WASHINGTON BORDER. THIS PARTICULAR EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR. kinda cool, huh? |
