Cool Gatecon fans Unite!

I hope Gatecon fans untie and do not go the the Creation/cremation con in Vancouver. That is Gatecons territory, not only that why would anyone pay $500 US for creation when Gatecons prices are way more affordable(half the price!). You don't get personalized autopraphs at creation, and really you don't get much more then we get at Gatecon. I'm angry that creation is trying to steal fans aways from what has always been, for the past 5 years, Gatecons territory!! Not to mention GC is non-profit, while creation is for profit.

I will always remain loyal to Gatecon, and there is no way I will support anyone else. Creation can't you just stay away from Vancouver? I don't understand why you are doing this.

Skydiver,

I know it's about money, but with all the conventions they have going there is no lack of it. They are a rich company. I think it's a bit more, and they want to end all fan run conventions. They want to control it all. No matter what anyone says I believe they just don't like hearing about a convention that is much loved while all they hear is what scums they are.

I hope they fail in Vancouver, and why, when things are so much cheaper in Canada, would they add an extra $100 onto the price of their gold package.

Cremation is

it does all come down to money. right now, gatecon is pretty much the only competing convention in north america.

yes, some stargate actors do attend other cons, however gatecon is the only pure stargate con.

how many folks, if they can only afford one con a year, would choose gatecon over a creation con??? Lots.

close to 1000 folks attneded gatecon last year (i know there were 500 superpass tickets, plus all the day pass folks, tripass, it has to be close to 1000)

imagine what would happen if folks had NO choice. If the only place where stargate actors are in any concentration are creation cons, then creation has the ability to charge however much they want. there will be no competition, no choice. they'll have cornered the market and all that money will be thiers

It is nothing but good business in a way. not good as in nice and fair, but good as in insuring that they can stay in business, keep thier jobs and keep going on like they have for 20 odd years

that's what i mean by it coming down to money. if gatecon is gone, we, as in north american fans, have three choices. .fly overseas (which, conisdering how much the dollar sucks is expensive as heck) or go to one of thier cons or not go at all

fans want to see the actors, so they will shell out the big bucks to get what they want. they will keep patronizing creation. and as long as the smaller fan run cons keep getting chased out of town, it will insure that creation can keep in business and keep doing what it's doing
