Unhappy A Discussion: Alliance Or Faction?

Definition:
Alliance - Members from many worlds join together.
Faction - Members from one world joined together.

Difference:
Alliance - You can belong to any world and join any alliance.
Faction - You Must belong to the world that the faction is for. It is World Specific. But if you belong to a "Faction World" you can still join an alliance. Its just that members of other worlds can't join the faction.

When Ausgate started it was with the idea of factions and alliances was secondary (I think) but alliances was easier.
History: There was two Factions .... IPPH and SDF that tried. IPPH merged with an Alliance and now only SDF is a faction.

Discussion:

1) Should Ausgate be all Alliances?
2) Should there be any factions?
3)If one or the other or both, what do you think is a way to get this done?

(I would like to hear some discussion on this as am down to 5 members now and don't know what the future might look like)

I'm glad you raised this question.

Yes you are right, things really started with the faction idea but the alliances took a firm hold.

I think that the way to go would be to lift all world restrictions and settle with a single type of faction (err.. Alliance).

I was hoping that there would be more patriotism with home worlds, but that didn't eventuate. So for the sake of your faction I think allowing people to join from any world would be the best way to go.

Funilly, everyone refers to alliances as factions anyway so I don't think anyone will even notice the difference

Okay, Your probably right. So, in anticipation of your change I have rewritten our General Information file to reflect operatives/representatives on other planets.

Could you please post a system message when you have completed making the change of lifting the World Specific requirement?

I guess this is the easiest way. Since a Faction operates the same as an alliance, nothing else need be done.

"all" = "the, singular"
