Hi jak!

I know, we all hear you, and everyone here on the Buffy forum was gutted when they cancelled it. But with the combination of Sarah wanting to go off and explore further movie possiblities and Joss the writer wanting to see buffy leave on a high, instead of it dragging itself along for several season's. I feel they did the right thing. Go out on top! We have seven season's of absolute genius tv to watch. Remember that. Nothing will better Buffy, Nothing...

I agree with Joss, it's always better for a show to go out on a high. And there's always the possibility of more spin-off shows to look forward to. I think Joss still plans on doing "Ripper"?

I'm afraid Joss is in a perpetual state of planning on Ripper. What's it been now, 6-7 years or more? Last I heard, the BBC's official position was "very interested." But I have to put that one in the catagory of "I'll-believe-it-when-I-see-it."

But we have Firefly, the Movie to look forward to in April - Joss' big-screen directorial debut.

Actually I want Joss to do new things. Yeah, I miss Buffy too and wish there were more to look forward to besides some vague hope of a re-union movie one day (especially after the hints of Buffy as the head of a Slayer Corps).

But Joss' last new project was Firefly, the series and that turned out great despite FOX's short-sightedness. So I'm torn between Buffy forever and new good stuff, like Ripper.

I was so disapointed to hear that there will be no Season 8. Buffy is what got Sarah Michelle Gellar reconized.

Re: Why Is Buffy Over?

"Season Eight" is up to issue # 3 already, and it's been selling well enough that Dark Horse has promised an extended run.
It's quite good, I'm enjoying it a lot.

There was some talk also of a series built on Spike; but Marsters has said that they had better get moving; he's going to be too old!

Re: Why Is Buffy Over?

Joss didn't want to end it there why doyou think he had season 8 comic book? He wanted another season and hell he was even gonna bring tara back in it however she woulda been even so amber wouldnt of done it she didnt wanna tarnish what every saw when they thought of tara however anyways Sarah didn't want another sseason of buffy n well she was kind of the star not some disposible character like warren so he was forced to make a comic instead.

Re: Why Is Buffy Over?

i dont think they ended it at the right time.. Now before people start getting annoyed with me for this i have good reason to say what i am about to.

The show should have finished 2 seasons before it did. Now the reason is simple really they had the perfect way of finishing it with Buffy sacrificing herself to save the world, don't get me wrong i did enjoy seasons 6 and 7 but a lot of the eps just didn't really seem to have any meaning to the and the story lines of the seasons seem to be a bit dragged out in some places then all over the place in others.

well thats my opinion about that anyway feel free to comment o my thoughts i,m always glad to hear other peoples views about my opinions on these attrs

Re: Why Is Buffy Over?

I'd say that if they did have to keep it going, they had SOME good episodes. That "should I be annoyed that they've never mentioned a sister before now" period until Dawn's nature was revealed, though you can't really beat destroying the entire town as a series finale.

Also, not having a plot involving Caleb might have meant not having Joss meet Nathan, which in turn might have meant no Firefly. And that would have been a bigger problem than its early demise.

Actually, Nathan's appearance as Buffy's big bad & Gina's simultaneous appearance as Angel's big bad were both after Firefly was cancelled.

Re: Why Is Buffy Over?

wb obcooke!

And yeah - Nathan and Gina had been done w/ Firefly before their stints on BtVS and AtS.

And BtVS ended b/c SMG wanted out - *she* pretty much decided (from what I understand of the events as they took place) that they were done. You can't have "Buffy" tVS w/o 'Buffy' - so the show ended and now we have comic books instead - which don't require paying actors and filming crews, etc.
