Smile next years gatecon ???

Hi,

Is there any news at all of a gatecon for next year...???
the dates that were being suggested is going to be expensive for flights etc (as it is high season for international flights) so the sooner the con is announced the more chance people have of getting cheaper flights etc...

So pretty please:blush: could we have a little hint that maybe there is going to be one next year ??? :kisses:

Gatecon 2005

Hi,

I'm sure Rich said they'd make a decision about Gatecon 2005 at the end of spetember as that's when MGM where making the decision about season 9.

So Rich what is it going to be? After all if I'm going to get Mr Goss to come then there'd better be a Gatecon to come too.

According to gatecon.com - Gatecon'05 is tentatively scheduled for the last weekend in July - however, AFAIK, that's all they've got so far.

Unless the website's changed in the last few days.

That's all I know... (b/c, obviously, I'm not Richard, and well, I'm not Allen either... )

Does that mean then that MGM has decided about next season?

Go to http://www.gatecon.com/home.asp

I am interested to know some more about Gatecon as I am hoping to save up for this as a kinda once in a lifetime holiday experience as i dont live in the states or Canada.

Was curious to know just some rough details about the cost of tickets for the con and a little more about the set visits I have read about.

Many thanks for any help

rough details on ticket costs -- I think they run from $100 - $250 USD -

That was last year - it may be different for 2005

set visits - I've never been able to go - so, you'll have to ask someone who's been.

going by previous years

vip/superpass tickets $216
this includes admission to pretty much everything, including evening activities, although photos are(and always have been) extra

Tripasses - 150-175ish i think (i've only ever bought vip/superpass) and it gets you into the talks, behind the vip/super pass holders for photos/autos

day passes i THINK were $75 and good for one day only. and all they get you is into the talks, and you're either last in line for photos/autos or not included at all

the set tours happen only when/if bridge/mgm whomever gives their blessing. it's usually an online auction. they've been offered 4 of the 5 years.

2001- it was a lucky dip type of thing that was not handled well at all.
2002 - it was an online auction and i think the lowest bid was a shade over 200 dollars with the highest bidder paying 500 or so
2003- online auction and the lowest winning bid was 150ish, not sure about the high bid
2004 - another online auction and it was massively expensive. I think the lowest bid to go was close to 300 with the atlantis set tour even more expensive

when/if there is an auction it likely won't be announced until a month or so before the convention

year five, which was last year, was the most attended gatecon ever so things were crowded. in previous years, it was crowded, but not THIS crowded.

time will tell, if there is a GC 2005, how sold out it will be given that the market is now being flooded with creation cons and some people that might go to gatecon will choose to go to a creation con instead
