The Movie Collection is out!

The Babylon-5 Movie Collection set of DVD's is finially out!

This 5 disc DVD set completes the Babylon-5 series by bringing us not only the 2 hour pilot episode "In The Beginning", but the four other movies of the series: "The Gathering", "Thirdspace", "River of Souls" and "A Call to Arms".

The set in only available in Region 1 right now [US and Canadian viewers], but there's nothing to say that won't change.

While Amazon.com isn't the only supplier, I give it here as a quick-&-dirty refference for folks.

Probably...

I'll probably do my usual: wait a month or so until some of the clearing houses have the set discounted and than buy it. That's what I've done in the past and have saved $10-$20/set.

Unfortunately the region 2 releases for Europe were very much lacking. For some reason they decided not to do a boxset, but to release The Gathering and In The Beginning seperately and with no extras/commentaries. The other 3 films strangely did get bundled together in a set. Damn annoying and quite expensive

The Gathering/In the Beginning were released several years before the started releasing the seasons. I have that DVD and all mine has the movies. Maybe that's what you got.

Re: The Movie Collection is out!

I watched these over this weekend in a marathon ironing session. I must admit that i enjoyed them more than the last time i watched them, but on the whole, i wasn't overy impressed and would've liked them to have at least had something to do with the main story arc.

The Gathering was great but it did make me laugh. We really came a long way in those five years and i't odd to go back to these characters as they were when it all started. It was a good story and you can see a couple of the plot threads already.

In the Beginning is my favourite of all the TV Movies. A Strong stoty a plot that had direct links to the main story. Quite emotionally charged too. A Great film.

Thirspace was just a stand alone episode with no seeming relevance to any of the B5 plot threads at all. enjoyable enough, but after the complexity of B5, i expected more.

River of Souls was quite interesting and i've always wondered about the Soul Hunters. Martin Sheen's character stated that he was one of the younger Soul Hunters and at 4000 years old was considered to be quite niave. It brings me back to my question as to whether or not they're first ones. It would've been good to have seen them at the battle of Corrianis 6 trying to collect Vorlon and Shadow Souls in the confusion of battle.

A Call to Arms was the only one that seemed to have any relevance to the main story as it led directly to the events of Crusade and was a Pilot of sorts.
