From Gateworld:

Quote:
O'Neill and the S.G.C. must prepare for a state visit from the President, but face never-ending catastrophes -- including the capture of SG-1 by the Goa'uld.

"Zero Hour" includes the following guest characters: Gilmor (General O'Neill's administrative aide), Colonel Reynolds (SG-3 commander), and Camulus (a man whom O'Neill has granted asylum from Baal). Actor William Devane (President Hayes) will most likely not appear in the episode.

"With Jack O'Neill having recently been promoted and appointed as base commander at Stargate Command, President Hayes is planning a visit to the top-secret facility. In the four days leading up to the event, General O'Neill and the S.G.C. face just about every catastrophe imaginable as they try and prepare.
"Jack has been assigned an administrative assistant, Gilmor, a civilian who served in the Marines and was recruited by the CIA, but who has been working a desk job since being injured in the line of duty two years ago. (The producers are looking for either a man or woman to play the role.)

"The crises? Delegates from the planet Amra have arrived on the base to negotiate trade with Earth, but find themselves held against their will by the S.G.C. (for reasons yet unknown). SG-1 and SG-3 disembark on a joint mission, but SG-1 is captured by the powerful Goa'uld System Lord Baal, who wishes to exchange his prisoners for a man (Camulus) O'Neill has granted asylum on Earth. And that's just for starters.

"And what's worse: Jack has to get use to being an administrator, planning menus instead of shooting at bad guys. At the end of his rope, what may be waiting for the President is O'Neill's resignation."
Sounds interesting, but a lot like Lockdown in "General O'Neill has admin problems". Oh, well.

Good episode. Only saw the episode once so far, but it was pretty good. Plenty of Jack, plenty of humor. I do think this should have aired BEFORE Lockdown because it was about Jack adjusting and everything, and it seems like it was supposed to air first.

One gripe: They said the Tok'Ra symbiote poison would kill the Jaffa...not true. It would kill the symbiotes, and eventually the Jaffa would die...but not if they get Tretonin.

Thumbs up

It was a good episode, as you mention it was really interesting to see Jack adjusting to his new position. I really love the humor in it. All the thing with the alien plant was hilarious. One could say that day Jack's have a real test of how he will manage. What more could be wrong?

This was the most 'Jack-filled' episode for some time and I think he did okay, not sure why he was writing the letter anyway.

The alien plant -- if it could grow that fast in minimal light, without soil on a alien planet (Earth), then what did it do on it's own world. Without something to keep in check it must have coclonised the entire planet. With that in mind, how could they not have realised that it needed to be kept under stricter security measures instead of just leaving it on a pot on a bench.

Camulus -- surely we could have had more stories with a Goa'uld on Earth? He could have escaped and destroyed whole cities, for example. I don't see the point on granting him asylum one week, then letting him go the next.

not entirely true, they said when it was first introduced that it killed the symbiote but it poisoned the host when the symbiote died. as the symbiote died
