What now for the Jossverse?

Don't know if anyone has asked this yet, and I could
put it on the angel board but I'll put it here instead.

What with Buffy long finished & Angel getting the WB boot
what now for the Buffyverse. I know Joss has got Serenity
in the works so thats something for him to do but what are the chances of them doing 'Ripper' or a faith thing
(as long as Tru Calling goes down the drain), or something
to do with Spike.

The Buffy/Whedonverse must go on somehow. Mustn't it?

Not sure what's up next -

There is still a possibility that another network will pick up Angel - like UPN did Buffy - and run with it for a couple seasons - but not sure if anyone's biting...

Then , the WB has also mentioned the possibility of Angel movies in the future.

Also - totally pushing one of my fave fandoms here - SciFi Channel is producing / planning / whatever a 2-hour mini-series based on the Dresden Files (hop over to the books section for more info) -- and there's a bit of a push to get James Marsters cast as the lead --

Anyway - Whedonverse - not sure what Joss has up his sleeves. Honestly, I'm almost to the point, where I'd want him to start from scratch with the casting, but keep the Slayer mythology going - you know? Give us some new ppl to peek at and investigate.

Sure - Spike's still got plenty of story - as long as they don't *overuse* him - which they haven't on AtS - but the other characters (not all, just some) are kinda flat and really have nowhere to go. But - we could see something...

I think that something with Faith or Giles would be interesting. Is "Ripper" still happening? Last I heard, Joss was postponing it until after "Firefly".

I'm not sure if the same formula would work with different people, though. How about a show focusing on the potentials all over the world? You could have a different person each episode, and how they cope with their new powers.

I didn't mean do Buffy: The Next Generation --

I meant, keep the Slayer mythology, but take a different direction with it - with different people. Not completely ignoring the existing characters, but not putting them directly IN the show either.

Read today on the BBC Cult site that WB have approached Joss saying that they want to do some Angel TV movies.
This could be interesting. As many as 6. Though if I was Joss
i'd tell them to (insert swear word here) off. They cancel the show but would still like to make money from it. Good of them isn't it.

Wonder if Wheldon is just a victim of fashion. He is not the 'in chap' at present.

Remember it is not just his vampire stable that has had its plug pulled. Firefly failed to fly as well.

That it was produced by a rival company won't have done him any good at WB, even if WB weren't interested in the show.

Serenity, being a film, could be something of a swansong, or just the opportunity to take a break.

Guess next would be Buffy: Voyager, then they'd have to do First-Slayer to give us the origins of the Slayer mythology, right??

Yeh, and probably have some kind of time travel involved so they can have brand new stories and a new race that no-one had ever heard of until they decided to do the prequel of how the
federati.......I mean slayers started.

I'd hope for something based around Spike, Faith or Giles, or a combination of them.. With guest spots now and then from the casts of BtVS & AtS of course, but not a slave to the old casts..

There must be all kinds of chaos going on with all these new slayers that are out there now, and Buffy can't be everywhere to find them..

How about combine the 2 ideas - Giles/Spike/Faith could go out into the world and find all the new slayers?
