| My flatmate has an ill-conceived disdain for all things LOTR, and has only seen the first film, which he thought was good for the first hour, but then got overlong and boring. I have come up with a plan to convince him of its wonderfulness. I have concluded that if time and attention-spans are issues, then perhaps the best way to view this film is to split it up into hour-long chunks. I remember working out where the breaks would work well for the first two extended editions (forgotten it now, sorry!). Even though I was riveted to all three films, I think it would be much easier to absorb everything one chapter at a time, so to speak. Once the extended edition of this film comes out I am going to break it up into my own little miniseries - don't you think this would be a good way to show it to younger kids and non-devotees? |

| Good idea, Tab! And I have to agree that I missed out on the Houses of Healing scenes, too. For the Aragorn stuff as well as the beginnings of the Eowyn/Faramir story. Otherwise, I LOVED IT! Hope it wins all its Oscars! |
