Heres what i think after watching the show(spoilers for the mini series)

ok so i have seen the first part of the mini series on Battlestar Galactica remake on scifi channel.

First off let me say that after seeing most of the original, which i did love, i thought this version was done remarkably well and i liked the "modern" look to it. As for the controversy that i have heard talked about over the changing of the genders of some of the main charecters, i dont think that it will screw up the show, in fact i think, at least so far from what i have seen, that the show will be fine. As far as the story line goes i like the way the plot is so far unfolding, we are seeing some real flaws in the charecters and it does make the show a lot darker as many have said.

overall i think its gonna be a great series and cant wait till tomorrow night when the next one comes on:rolly2:

Unhappy

Man, the new mini-series was such a depressing thing to watch. No huge funny capes on any of the characters. Not a single cape. I used to love watching Lorne Green & company prance around in their capes. Why did they leave out the silly capes?

The series would be much better if they brought back those funky capes. Man, those capes made up for the poor acting and lousy special effects. The new series doesn't have poor acting or lousy special effects, however, I believe it would enhance things to throw some capes on those people. However, I don't think any actor/performer on earth (for the exception of Rip Taylor) can look any more queer than Lorne Green wearing a cape.

I believe, in the absence of news otherwise from DVO, there are 4 episodes in the series. (4 hours)

The capes that Colony has a penchant for are called Pelisse and if that is the worst complaint we get, then I think there may be a lot eggy faces out there.

I'm subscribed to a list that is scifi related, but is not full of Original Series Galactica fans with their obviously preconceived predjudices about this mini series. So, I think their views are probably more reflective of the people who will actually watch this mini series.

There were certainly some criticisms, but in general they really liked it. The major criticism, if it is one, is that after 2 or 3 hours it is still dealing with a possible attack by the Cylons.

In the Original Series, the attack had taken place in the first half hour, so either the story development is very slow, or else they have added an incredible amount of new detail.

I've no idea when we will get to see this in the UK. I don't have the Sci Fi Channel, so I haven't even seen the Dune mini series yet. And in the UK, no channel has shown Firefly yet. I can't complain that much though, apparently New Zealand are only now seeing the final season of Star Trek: DS9

Firefly was on UK sci-fi channel this year Dave (I know you don't have it, but just correcting for accuracy's sake!)

No idea about BSG coming over here though..

Thanks Mark, I forgot that actually.

Am I correct in thinking that the UK/European SciFi Channel is totally separate from the US Scifi Channel? (Even having different shareholders.)

I think that's why they don't show the same things. Otherwise, you would assume that whatever one showed, the other would naturally follow.

Also, this was meant to be more than 4 hours, I'm sure. Are they just holding back some, have they cancelled it for poor ratings, or was it really only meant to be 4 hours long?
