| According to Daniel's summation in the earliest episodes of Season 1, when the Goa'uld found the human race to use as slaves and Jaffa, they found the Egyptian peoples of the early dynasties. In order to subjugate the population, the powerful Goa'uld took on the roles of the local deities, i.e. the Egyptian pantheon. He later ("Thor's Hammer") suggests that many of the other deities from Earth history may also be based on visiting aliens, or vice versa. He split the deities into vicious rulers by domination, roles taken by the Goa'uld, and also the knowledge bearers who instilled justice and knowledge etc, a role taken by the Asgard. |

| It depends entirely on where you learn your archaeology. But most schools have preferred periods of history, typically the ones they also research in. And countries like America who don't have any ( ) must do something as well.... ![]() Both types will have a lot of theory about general population trends, practices, archaeological theories and techniques. But many courses won't, for example, touch Egypt at all. I'll try to do a Pmail offline after I ask Mrs P'T what she did for three years... |
