Hi i just thought nthat i might get into something like ds9 and i was wondering what is the story line?

DS9 in a nutshell:-

DS9 was a Star Trek series based upon a space station.

The station, Deep Space 9, was built by the Cardassians during their occupation of the planet Bajor, which fell into the hands of the Federation.

Along with the station came a stable wormhole that gave ships ready access to another part of the galaxy.

Unfortunately, the residents of that part of the galaxy, the Founders of the Dominion, took exception to the Federation going sight-seeing in their bit of the sky and joined forces with the Cardassian Empire with a view to over-running the Federation and its Klingon and Rommulan allies.

Personal opinion
First season was fair in a traditional Star Trek sort of way, but they ran out of stories very quickly. Then they had the war at the end of the third season which carried it for the remaining 4 years and things picked up considerably.
