The Four Races ok, i was watching the episode "The Fifth Race" where O'Neil gets that weird knowledgy thing and he learns about the ancients. so at the end the asgards tell o'neil there were four supreme races in an alliance againist the goa'uld. i know the asgard and the nox, what were the other two races? was one of them the reetu (sorry, don't know the spelling for that). if so, why did the attack the humans which might be the fifth supreme race?

Who said it was broken? On the contrary, (e.g. season 5's "Shades of Grey") I'd reckon it was still in operation. Even, as stated above, if by the end of season 6 we've not seen any Furlings.

From what I have seen, whenever they talk of the alliance they say "There once was." The Ancients are pretty much isolationists (save a few like Oma Desala), the Furlings are most likely wiped out or on the brink of extinction (just assuming, but since we have not seen then there has to be a reason). The Nox and the Asgard are still around, but it doesn't make much of an alliance, and the Nox seem pretty isolationist these days as well. SPOILER--SEASON 5: The Tollan, who prolly either joined the great alliance before it was broken, or most likely was going to be part of a new alliance (Nox, Asgard, Tollan and some other devoping races) are now wiped out.
