Thumbs up T3 Discussions...SPOILERS!

I'm suprised there are no posts since the movie was released last weekend. I felt it was the best Terminator yet. There's just one thing that's been bugging me about the movie.

John Conner realizes that Skynet is all software running on computers all over the world via the internet. So, how then did Skynet not take a major hit when the nukes fell, destroying the humans, computers and everything else. Not to mention that a nuclear blast emits huge amounts of electromagnetic radiation which would shut down the electrical grids that power the computers that weren't destroyed in the blast.

One other thing that confused me. When Arnie first steals a vehicle, he finds the keys in the visor like John taught him, but they put in a scene of him hotwiring the truck anyway. What's up with that?

Otherwise a felt it was a great action flick!

Any other thoughts or comments about the movie?

Angry what a rotton flick...

You know why nobody has commented on the movie yet? Because it was the worst excuse for a Terminator flick I could've imagined. I was so sad after watching that dumb movie... I'm sure that's where everybody... at home crying. I hope nobody gets too offended here, but how dumb do the producers and screenwriters think we are anyway?

My list of gripes (sorry... spoilers included)

1: James Cameron didn't even want to do this film... oh and at what a price! This had the feel and emotion of a made-for-tv film. The ominous tour-de-force that visionary James Cameron had in mind is 100% lost in this film. I can't believe how thoroughly and uttery they annihilated this series with this poor poor sequel.

2: The soundtrack... what happened to the kick-@$$ industrial/orchestral Terminator soundtrack that we all associate with the films? At least in T2, the music matched the emotion. The T3 soundtrack was a commercial for pop music.... BAD pop music, at that.

3: The script... BLEW! There were more holes in that story that I could count! Let's forget the most important hole at all... that they couldn't even have done enough homework to figure out what model number Arnold was... (It was supposed to be the T-800, right?) Like, where the hell was everybody in that base/fallout shelter that they found in the end. They just waltzed on in, eh? And since when does the SWAT team take a break from shooting up the car you're in, to let you have a heartfelt conversation? I swear the coffin and the hearse were both bulletproof...

4: They were SO trying to be SO cool.... Arnold blocking bullets with a coffin on his way to the hearse (oooh coool) The TX made her boobs enlarge to escape from police... (shouldn't a terminator have just killed the guy?) ... and on that note... "T-X?" I highly doubt that an computer intelligence would deviate from their numbering convetion... T-800... T-1000.... T-X? It's just another marketing scheme like all the "X" marketing schemes that popped up since Generation"X" and the "X" games... "Hey guys... how do we WOW the idiots on earth with this movie... What COOOL by today's standards? I KNOW! The new terminator will be a GIRL and we'll call her the T-X!" Pukeworthy... really really pukeworthy...

5: Speaking of marketing... how about the most gargantuan, most pathetic, most annoying, most out-of-place product placement in the history of hollywood? Xenadrene EFX... a name I will never forget. I swear they had that logo on the side of that blue trailer, jackknifed in the middle of the road, and AS BIG AS THE MOVIE SCREEN and focused on it for what felt like an eon... So I guess it worked as planned huh? I remembered the name... They might as well have stopped the movie and had a commercial. What's worse is that they put the T-X in front of it as an example of what diet pills like Xenadrene make you look like. With the number of young children going to watch this movie, I simply fear for the women of tomorrow... I felt dirty after watching that scene... just flat-out dirty... stay off the diet pills kiddies... Remember... it's legal dope. Nothing more.

6: Arnold got his leathers off a gay burlesque dancer. Arnold went out to save the world wearing the clothers of a gay burlesque dancer. How can you take a cyborg seriously when he has the clothes of a gay burlesque dancer. "Talk to da hahnd." what a crock.

The only good thing I will say about this movie is that the ending was decent. But an ending is nothing without a movie to support it. I can hardly believe that they cared so little about keeping the story that they would've allowed for such shallow character development and b-llsh-t coincidence to help the story along. John just happens to be caught stealing drugs from the girl he first kissed and whose dad works for skynet?" Too clean. Too stupid. Too adolescent for anything short of a Pokemon movie... I only wish I could get sent back in time to terminate any dreams of producing this sequel.

Thank you and good night.
~ Swami.

I think I have to agree with everything Seventhswarmi said. This was a Terminator too far!

T2 was really just a remake of Terminator, with better special effects and story refinements. This was just a remake of the end of T2. And a poor remake too, it walked all over the story.

I agree, they've ruined the story by changing SkyNet from an orbital satellite as originally proposed, into a computer virus like the Sentients in the TV show 'Odyssey 5'.

And the ending that the future is inevitable, the war with machines cannot be prevented, is inconsistent with the Temporal mechanics they have already presented. Either Time is fixed, we all have a fixed predetermined destiny, or it can be changed. It already was shown to be changed once -- CyberDyne systems which designed SkyNet only existed because of the technology from the future left behind when the original Terminator was destroyed. They cannot have it both ways.

Re: T3 Discussions...SPOILERS!

T3 was terrible, IMO. With all the time they had, you'd think they could have written a good story... And I didn't care much for Nick Stahl's portrayal of John Connor, there was no chemistry between him and Arnold.

Re: T3 Discussions...SPOILERS!

It was fun, but not original enough. They could have made clear that the T-X was a more advanced polyalloy that could duplicate machinery, allowing it to form a temporary endoskeleton. That would let it run faster. It could also form wheels, wings, balloons, whips, and so on. It should have been more grotesque. Maybe it could split up or reproduce itself. I don't understand how it could remote-control ordinary vehicles.

Re: T3 Discussions...SPOILERS!

To be honest I didn't watch it went it came out & I just caught it on TV when it made it there. Wasn't impressed. The whole thing stunk of exactly what swarmi said, marketing. I can imagine the producers script meetings now. Ok, we need something new, something cool, somewhere to 'take the franchise' and forgot that making the 'bad guy' a swedish supermodel was silly and that re-hashing the "going back in time to kill all the future human leaders" was daft as well, especially with it's holier-than-thou pompous ending.
As Dave said, either you have a linear time or a changeable one. The TX killed several of the future human leaders meaning that time is changeable, so why isn't it all changeable?
Overall I felt that there was never a need for another Terminator movie anyway - T2 was always going to be the high point for the franchise and, if they felt the need for another Terminator payday, they should have gone down the TV mini-series route and replaced Arnold while they were at it.
