Re: Dragonball Z Live Action Movie For some time, I was convinced that a Western based film company taking on the Dragonball franchise in the live action market was a rumor at best. Apparently, however, I have underestimated the industry. Check out some information about the project at its IMDB profile. For me, the most interesting detail that gets me pondering possibilities is that James Marsters, who got the fan girls' hearts throbbing with his role of Spike on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, is playing the character Piccolo. To have the villian played by someone quite likable suggests to me that Fox may be holding onto the possibility of sequels where Piccolo later joins forces with the Z Fighters. It should be noted that this is a film adaption of a segment of Dragonball, not the more popular Dragonball Z. Last edited by McMurphy; 2nd January 2008 at 03:38 AM. Reason: "likable", not "likely"

Re: Dragonball Z Live Action Movie It is set in Mexico and Goku is a Caucasion school boy. If they HAD to have a school based story a Saiyaman movie would frankly have been awesome, chance to do something original without destroying the series. Also people across the globe could rejoice in funny poses and Superman jokes.

Post Production Move It looks like film production is still set to be filmed in Mexico (the story does not take place there) but, thankfully, the post production (read: animation and special effects) has been moved to Vancouver. This film may be exciting, indeed. I have seen the endless and rather embarrassing debates at IMDB in regards to choosing a white actor for Goku. Personally, I don't find the fact as either a big deal or all that surprising for a project hoping to gather a large audience. Besides, it is a common misconception due to continuous errors in official English dubs to state that Goku and the Z fighters live in Japan or that the series even takes place on Earth.

Re: Dragonball Z Live Action Movie Don't want to be a pestimistic, but OH NO! a live action movie, this can seriously damage any cred Dragon ball Z has, just look at what happended to the Street Fighter: The movie with Van Damme in it. Just hope they do justice to it though (but sceptical) .
