Actually - no- I'm not - and I forgot to include my 'sarcasm' font when I wrote that -- I know she could do something else on any of the Whedon-verse shows - that is ALWAYS a possibility -- But Emma Caufield *did* say in an interview that she didn't want her character to die before the end of the show - *b/c* she wanted to be able to come back and do guest appearances - but that was before SMG made the 'I'm done' speech and decided to quit ... so, like I said, she might have changed her mind - or she might have not really cared --- not like she had any control over it anyway -- Joss decides who lives or dies on the show -- ![]()

| Okay, fans - Still a little confused? Did Spike die? Why did Anya die? Will we ever see Buffy again, perhaps soaking up the sun in a big city on the West Coast? JOSS SPEAKS! Find out what Joss really meant to say about some aspects of the finale - TV Guide - Buffy Postmortem: Is Spike Dead? an interview with Joss Whedon |

| [Originally posted by Tabitha: I think that the story of these mysterious women, and the scythe, could be something that could be explored in a lot of details in the future, along with the newly powered-up potentials.] From an interview in TV Guide: TVGO: Did you steal any cool props? Whedon: The scythe that appeared at the end of the last episode, episode 20. Buffy finds a scythe and it happens to be the scythe that Melaka Fray uses in the comic book that I wrote, so we decided to bring that to life. So, I have that. =============== The Fray comic book takes place in the future, but I haven't read it. I haven't thought to wonder if the comic books will continue. I assume that Buffy novels will still be published, at least as long as they sell, I assume so. I understand that a new video game is also planned that is supposed to be tied in with the Seventh Season and the fight against The First. You get to be all the major characters. You can even fight as JOSS! |

| Too bad the Buffy novels suck -- I wouldn't buy another one if you paid me and had JM hand-deliver it to me --- in fact, if you had him hand-deliver it - I'd through the book away and keep JM! :naughty: - but anyway -- they do suck -- Haven't read "Fray" - haven't seen it anywhere either --- I do have the Buffy comic about Spike - the one JM helped write - it's actually kinda bad too -- (Chris Golden wrote, I think - which explains a lot - he's also responsible for "Pretty Maids All in a Row" (book) which is total garbage) -- |

| Not to get off on a merchandising kick, but according to the Dark Horse Comics website which is linked to their preferred on-line retailer - Things From Another World (tfaw.com) - Fray #1-7 are available for $2.99 each. Fray #8 is being pre-ordered for Jun 18, 2003 sale. #8 is described as the conclusion of the series. The recommended age for the comics is listed as "Children", whatever that means. You can visit Dark Horses' Buffy Zone or go directly to the Fray page. Clicking the word "Buy" or "Pre-order" next to the description of the comic will take you to a page that will tell you the availability of the product. |

| Just a couple of notes that I'll put here because I don't have any other place for them. I have read several interviews, mostly with Joss, over the last couple of days. I didn't keep track of the various sources for all this info, but here goes. ....................... Joss said that he intended to do a lot more with Dawn this season, but the series finale story arc sucked all the time up. He practically apologized for not making Dawn a better character, especially in the last year. He still praises Michelle's acting ability and takes the blame for not giving her a more active role. ....................... Joss said he collects many of the collectibles from the series, but he wishes he had an action figure of Anya in the bunny suit. He says that even Emma had a tough time finding one. ....................... Joss said that he stole the "scythe" (which still looks more like an ax to me). Hey, Highlander II, you haven't chimed in on this prop - what did you think? It looks good, especially if it really is as sharp and highly-polished as it appeared. Do you think that full-size reproductions will appear? I'm sure that we'll be able to get tiny ones on necklaces and such. ....................... The Cheese Man - well, I missed this one, but apparently Joss has "explained" this one before. "IGN (dvd.ign.com): Speaking of "Restless," you've said time and time again that the Cheese Man means nothing, yet people continue to speculate. Does it weird you out that people obsess over every single aspect of certain episodes or are you like that as well? Joss Whedon: Well, I am, somewhat. And the show is designed to make people obsessive. Ultimately, cheese may mean a great deal to other people. Part of a poem that's different than a straight-on narrative is you have to let the viewer bring some of themselves into it. I mean, you do that anyway, but you have to do it more specifically and tangibly. So if somebody sees the Cheese Man and it brings up a huge thing for them, that's totally valid.... But he was specifically there with no meaning, because I always feel that in any good dream, any real dream, there's always one thing where you're just like, "This is about my mother, this is about my anxiety about work, that's just...what the hell was that? I'm not sure why the postman was a kangaroo." ....................... Ratings for the last episode in the US - It had 4.9 million viewers, the biggest audience since October 2002 and above the average of 3.8 million viewers. The rating among people ages 12-34 and adults 18-34 beat all three "big" broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC). It was beat only by viewers of FOX's "American Idol" sing-off and the "Gilmore Girls" finale on The WB. ....................... |

Well, if you mean, do I think it would be cool as a retail salable item? yeah - it might work - it can be produced 'live' or not -- more popular if it is (live means 'sharpened') -- It's better than some of the things they've used -- Oh - btw - if you watch (or at least see the promo poster) ST: Nemesis - that shadowy guy on the front - he's weilding the same knife the Mayor gave Faith -- Gil Hibben's "Jackal" -- The 'scythe' - it's pretty cool --- and it could be marketed -- don't know if *I* would buy one --- but someone probably is dying to get their hands on a replica --

uh huh - yeah sure -- um - you know - there were LOTS of places he could have 'sucked' the finale story arc out of an episode and done something with Dawn - or, better yet (or heaven forbid), USE HER IN THE FREAKING ARC!! She could have had a role - but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo - she and the other Scoobies got shoved into a corner in favor of the potentials - and some stuff about Spike -- GAH! remember 'Bring on the Night'?? They could have done something with Dawn in THAT episode - might have actually made it watchable if they had - I hate that ep - worst ep of S7 IMO -- boooooring --- What is it about 'usage of the characters to make a good story' that the writers don't get? I just don't like Joss' 'reasoning' for not using Dawn more - it started out fairly well, and they didn't know the show was ending until they started filming the second 1/2 - they could have done all kinds of 'Dawn stuff' before that -- and they could have added her to the finale arc too - they just didn't --- grrr argh ----

| Great! This was a great episode. I just wish the rest of the season had been this interesting. All of the talking and waiting for this final episode actually got kind of boring at times. Last season was much more interesting and exciting! |

| Some quotes: Buffy: What? Let me guess, you can *smell* him. Spike: Well yeah. And I also used my enhanced vampire eyeballs to watch you kissing him. Um - Angel: Do I have to go with the cookie analogy? That's about all - can't recall anymore - just liked the 'enhanced vampire eyeballs' line --- Love Spike!! ![]() |

| [Highlander II: was Spike dreaming? that's what it looked like - and he woke up real fast - but I couldn't tell what he said] He definitely says "I'm drowning..." Then he wakes up. Here's my best guess from listening with headphones. SPIKE: I'm drowning in footwear.[WAKES UP - SAYS TO HIMSELF] Weird dream. I had to replay that bit again - and thats what he says - wonder who came up with that line !!!! maybe there is someone around the set with a shoe thing! Also, LOVED the little drawing of Angel on the punchbag, you could just tell it was supposed to be Angel. There was a lot of funny stuff in this last episode, and they mixed it with the tragedy of the death of the SITs and Anya etc. I just loved Xander's reaction to the good plan - "there's a party in my eye socket and everyones invited" (paraphrase) and "I should just not use words" Not sure about the Spike burning up thing, but from the info around I wonder if maybe he could be the Vampire referred to in the Shanshu prophecy. Principal Wood - I sure thought he'd popped his clogs and he surprised me when he opened his eyes - nice one ! As far as last ever episodes go this was a good 'un - no one can accuse Joss of not giving us closure on Sunnydale eh !! |

| Omigod, can't believe that Buffy is over - very surreal... Anyway, good ending, v. appropriate, v. upbeat - I guess Joss wanted to celebrate the ending rather than mourn it - wanted to go out with a bang rather than a whimper.. Of course, bloody typical that my two favourite characters get the chop! What was wrong with killing off Andrew and Woods - no -one would have missed them - em, I suppose that was kind of the point tho. And yes, it was appropriate that Anya and Spike, the most morally ambigious of the group, died the heroic deaths, esp. Spike - he got to prove that he was a champion all along.... now we need Angel and co to get their finger out and resurrect him - chop, chop, what's keeping ya folks... Sunnydale swallowed into a hole in the ground, not so much a surprise, Marti Noxon said they had considered ending the series that way before, all the potentials in the world becoming slayers, that I did not see coming, although hubby kept yelling it in the background, so I kind of missed the surprise impact - Buffy finally is free of her responsibilities. I always saw her walking away from being a slayer, this way she never has to - bet you they never mention that there is 12 million slayers in the world in ATS lol Anyway, I did love the finale from beginning ( angel's sulkiness) to the end (Buffy's enigmatic smile) some great lines - Angel: We are talking about Spike here Buffy: He's different now - he has a soul.. Angel: oh, that's great (mumbles) everyone's got a soul now...I started it! Buffy: I'm not done yet - I'm like cookie dough, and one day I'll be cookies and maybe someone will want to eat...em enjoy the cookies. Angel: Do you know who you want to....do I have to go with the cookie analogy? Buffy: Are you going to go all Dawson on me everytime I get a new boyfriend? ( so perfect, as Angel, Buffy and Spike totally were Dawson, Joey and Pacey in S3 DC) Angel: (disappearing into the mist) I'm not getting any older... Buffy: Let me guess you could smell him.. Spike: yes, I could also see you kissing him with my super vampire eyes Spike: You can't just buy me with trinkets, I've got my pride you know ( rushes in front of Buffy as she goes to leave) actually that was a total smokescreen about my pride. Andrew: I'll defend it with my life Anya: Yes, we will defend it with his life Xander: Don't be afraid to use him as a human shield Anya: Yes, good, thanks Buffy Tears in her eyes) I love youSpike: No you don't but thanks for saying it Andrew: She died saving my life Xander: that's my crazy girl....always doing the stupid thing Giles: What are we going to do tommorrow, considering the mall was actually in Sunnydale? Dawn: We destroyed the mall? I fought on the wrong side. And my personal favourite: Spike: You better go love, I think it's fairly safe to say schools out for the bloody summmer! Aah, the memories... ![]() |
