Shape shifters on crews

If I could have a super power it would be like Mistique's on the X-men. Enough about me. Shape shifters had gotten a bad rep on all the star trek series. Quite frankly I would have liked to see more species that could alter there appereance. Were there any crew members on any series that were changlings. I have a feeling that the character Whoopi Goldberg played on TNG was a shapeshifter, but other than her I am coming up short.

Not quite a crew member, but there is always Odo?

Never thought of Guinan being a shape shifter though?

Guinan was an El Aurian. The bad guy Soran in 'Generations' was an El Aurian. If Guinan was a shape shifter wouldn't Soran be one too, and wouldn't we have seen him use that power to save his neck?

I agree that shape shifters had a bad press:

The salt creature in 'The Man Trap' TOS
The things on Pyrus VII in 'Catspaw' TOS
The shape shifter in Rura Penthe in 'The Undiscovered Country'
Armus on Vagra II in 'Skin of evil' TNG

All bad guys.

What about Salia in 'The Dauphin' TNG? (Wesley's love interest.)

No crewmembers though (apart from Odo.)

Maybe it's because they make better villains.

Dave can you just pull all that knowledge out of your head? Or do you look some of it up?

You're forgetting the biggest shape shifters baddies of them all. One in particular who could have been portrayed as a nice guy was the another one of the 100 that Odo (and Chief Obrien) encountered whilst in a runabout.

That was one oppertunity they could have had a non-murderous changeling.
