5th Book Stolen You probably heard this already but in case not.... A forklift truck driver at a printing plant pleaded guilty on May 14 to stealing pages from the as-yet-unreleased Harry Potter book by JKRowling. Magistrates in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England were told that Donald Parfitt, 44, who worked at Clays Ltd. in Bungay where the book is being printed, claimed to have found pages from 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' in a car park as he was leaving work on May 5. Attempts were then made to sell the stolen pages to The Sun newspaper - the Sun newspaper told police it had received a call from "a shifty-sounding man" offering three chapters of the book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, for $40,000 - this led to Mr Parfitt's arrest a week ago. Sentencing was adjourned until June 4 at Lowestoft Magistrates Court. Two 16-year-olds from Beccles, Suffolk, and an 18-year-old from Norfolk were also arrested and have been charged with receiving stolen goods. Meanwhile, the Sun newspaper said a different 40-year-old man "stumbled across" the ultimate treasure when he was strolling around the town of Bungay in Suffolk. First edition copies were found lying in a field adjacent to the printers Clays Ltd, which is printing hundreds of thousands of the book. The Sun said the books were stashed in a safe at its headquarters in London while the newspaper made arrangements to return them to Bloomsbury. I'm sure no one even looked at them! JKR is now taking legal action to make sure no one can publish any part of the fifth Harry Potter book before it comes out.

And now Shock Horror £130,000 worth of books have been stolen while awaiting to be delivered to shops in the UK. The lorry which had the pallets of books has been found but without its load. It was found in Manchester so you lot up North might get the books sooner than you think. LOLannette ![]()

Ok - I don't get this -- they're *books*! It's not like they'll never print any more of them... ppl are so weird about these things. Something is wildly popular and they have to have it *right now*! They can't wait a week or a month for a book or a movie or a toy - geeeeeeeeeez --- get a life, ppl! Sorry - I just think it's really stupid to try to get $40,000 for 3 chapters of a book that's gonna release in a month anyway - not to mention, any newspaper or magazine or anyone who printed it prior to the release date would be up a creek w/o a paddle anyway -- grrrrrrrrrr ppl are just stupid --

Yeah - actually - I was partly remembering all the hoopla over Cabbage Patch kids and Tickle Me Elmos -- what *was* all that? But again - it's a book --- like, I'm impatiently waiting the release of Jim Butcher's newest - but I'm not out scrounging up chapters to sell to the highest bidder -- (well, guess part of that could be b/c Jim's already given us the 1st 4! he's so evil) -- but that's not the point - even if he hadn't - I still wouldn't - oh - I know what it is -- capitalism -- gah! that's why bookstores had "Harry Potter" book parties at midnight ---- *shakes head* I'm going back to my Harry Dresden corner now -----

Oh - I'm not really going anywhere --- just only seen the two movies and have the 1st two books -- reading some other stuff, ATM, so not quite workin' on HP just yet -- honestly - wasn't gonna watch / read - then asked a friend if the stuff was any good --- movies -- pretty good --- so, got the books (and Jim Butcher and his sister both like 'em - takin' their lead here) -- and will read eventually -- though - not sure how much of their lead I should follow, b/c JB likes LKH too - and I didn't like the one book of hers I read - but - anyway -- on that Wal-Mart thing --- ooooh - big badness there -- and geeeeeez!! Why do ppl always wanna spoil stuff for everyone else?? that's just - wrong ---
