Holly Valance as new Buffy - ugh, puleease no! Don't think that this is true, cos it doesn't seem very realistic, but thought I would post this article. Don't do it Joss!! Click here

I think they should go w/ Shrek the Vampire Slayer - that's just so much cooler I hope not - I still think that Faith carrying on would be the best - and if not her - Willow would be okay - though, I think we were overloaded w/ Willow in S6 - but that's just me --- whatever they chose - I kinda hope they take a different direction - maybe kinda get back to the MOW ideas and the building up to a Big Bad at the end - but maybe a little less overall story arc - more like BtVS S2 or something ---- *sits back to wait and see*

I think Buffy the Vampire Slayer only works with a blond. The name Buffy, and the way Buffy looked (esp. earlier seasons and in the movie) both had a message. They're obvious ways of telling the audience that names and how a person looks aren't as important as what someone does. I always wonder how the actors must feel when they have to say her name during a serious scene. I'm sure there must be some outakes involving someone just bursting out laughing when they say 'Buffy...' Anyway, I think Joss has taken Buffy as far as he can without ruining it. Let it end I say.

Tell-tale ![]() I think it was definitely part of the whole ethos of the show that Buffy, a vacuous blond cheer-leader type was called to save the world from vampires and the rest. That someone as bimbo-y as Buffy in the movie could become as strong a person as SMG's Buffy became over the seasons was part of Joss' plan all along I'm sure. A short blond girl with a silly name who saves the world....that's the entire point of the show!! For the record I think now that it was good to end Buffy without another season, S7 was mostly good, but I think the sparkle was beginning to fade, so it was a good decision to end the show while it was still strong. Spin-off's, sure why not, Angel is going strong in it's fifth season in the US now, and who could have imagined at the end of S3 Buffy how easy it would be to not have Angel around and not have that Buffy-Angel storyline throughout the show (although it did pop up now and then in the guest spots)? I'd love to see a Faith show, the long-awaited Watcher series should be interesting too, if it ever appears. For now guest spots on Angel by the Buffy cast should ease the loss of the show...

I had heard that there was a spin-off idea w/ Faith and Spike - but that's all that anyone ever heard about it (well, except JM and he won't say more about it b/c it "wasn't [his] idea") - but ED got that "Tru Calling" show (which is 'eh'); so JM went to AtS and now we'll have to 'wait and see' -- I think Faith and Spike in a spin-off would be a LOT of fun --- And yes - the blond girl w/ the goofy name being strong is the whole point of the show -- I just think they 'over-developed' Buffy by about mid S5 - well, maybe early S6 - *shrug* I liked her better in S2 --

Well without getting into it, Buffy did have a lot to deal with emotionally in seasons 5 and 6, what with all the deaths, gods and evil-wiccas running about, it would have been bad for the show if Buffy had simply cruised through it all with a witty one-liner and a stake to the heart.. But it did take the show on a different route, particularly in S6, but evolution of characters is essential for the continued success of a show. ![]()

Actually - I kinda think they 'ran out' of things to do with Buffy - so we got that weird S6 stuff (that and the fact that Joss was rather scarece, so we had to deal with whatever Marti came up with - but that's a whole other discussion) The way someone explained it somewhere else was that in S6 - Buffy was dealing with 'every day' stuff - which, really isn't very entertaining - the example used was 'taking out the trash' - do you really want to come home from work and sit down w/ your fave characters only to see them take out the trash? Or worry about the trash? Everyday stuff can be interesting - but it needs a Joss-twist to it - or it's boring. B/c that's the way he started the show - just an ordinary girl, trying to do ordinary things - go to school, go to prom, have a boyfriend, have friends, etc, etc, etc - and that seemed to work pretty well, until S6 - S5 was actually pretty decent for character development - even for Buffy - what w/ the new sister and all - they just forgot to develop the *other* characters in the cast. And don't even get me started on S7 - which needed a LOT of work and a more even arc. I'm not saying that I'd be able to do a brilliant job, but since they 'switched gears' about 1/2-way through; stuff got kinda goofed -- bad Joss. ![]()
