| How much do we like the new principal? {Excuse me Tab, but I have to hijack your thread a moment to put in a spoiler notice.} [THIS IS A SPOILER THREAD, DISCUSSING A CHARACTER INTRODUCED IN SEASON SEVEN. PLEASE LIMIT YOUR COMMENTS TO GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE CHARACTER INSTEAD OF SPECIFIC PLOT DEVELOPMENTS SINCE NOT ALL USERS ARE ON THE SAME EPISODE. AFTER THE SEASON ENDS WE CAN MAKE ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ABOUT EVENTS IN THIS CHARACTER'S LIFE. - OB-Wan, moderator] Biographic info --->Robin Wood, son of the slayer, got some of his own badass moves, and for some reason enjoys principaling. His character is quite a departure from previous principals, and when I first saw him I kind of groaned and thought "Arg, why have they gotten the youngest, hottest person they could find to play the role. Talk about getting rid of all the older characters.". But really, his age was an important plot point for who his character turned out to be, so I can let TPTB away with it on this one. And he does seem to be a convincing principal too. So what do you think of the character? And please remember spoiler tags - most UK folk are only up to "First Date". [And that only counts those on SkyOne, as I understand it, those without cable in the UK run far behind that. Boy, Tab, you sure picked a hard topic to moderate. - OB-Wan] |

| [Originally posted by Highlander II: I just don't toss him up there at the top of my list ---] Well, no wonder - there's no room at the top of your list with Spike taking up the first five spaces. I haven't made up my mind about Wood. And sadly, there's not enough episodes left for him to make much of an impression. As a principal he seems okay, but I'm not familiar enough with him to be comfortable with him as a possible romantic interest, like all the women seem to. I still think of the girls as being very young and they are all pretty short. Well, most everyone seems short compared to DB. And he impresses me as being older (or perhaps just much more mature) than all the others. It just seems an odd match for the girls to get all ga-ga over the older-seeming, towering new guy. Heck, Clem's been around longer and had more lines than Wood. He's still mostly a stranger. And that's unfortunate, because Buffy has always lacked an interesting character of color, who wasn't killed after a brief time. [Boy, it's really hard to say much of anything without giving away plot developments either directly or by inference.] |

![]() very funny -- and he only takes up the 1st 3 -- ![]() Dawn, Wes, Clem and a couple others are up there too... ![]() Just don't like Wood - part of it does have to do w/ his attitude toward Spike, but I disliked him prior to that -- and I don't think he's all that attractive, personally --- *shrug* dunno - and like, Ob, he doesn't really have a lot of time left to 'endear' himself to us before the show's over ---- | |

| I am so sorry about the spoilerificness of my first post - don't know where my head was and somehow I managed to cleverly forget how the whole spoiler business works (i.e. goes by seasons, not eps, outside of the episode discussions). D- Must try harder. I think Wood and his relationship with Spike and Buffy is pretty well realised. At first I wondered why he wouldn't just trust that Buffy was "with the mission" enough to take on his problems with Spike before it came to blows. A lot of the problems I had with him in earlier season seven episodes worked themselves out as we realised who and what he was. I like 'im. |
