| The fight to SaveFarscape is narrowing down: FANS PLEASE READ!!! Subject: Target: Viacom As a campaign, we're not solely pinning our hopes on the SCI-FI Channel realizing that they made a mistake. We're also firm believers in diversification. We have to let other networks know about the wonder that is Farscape, the size of the fan base and support Farscape has, and our efforts to get it back on television. For those of you that don't already know, the parent company of the SCI-FI Channel is in the process of selling it and it's sister station, the USA Network off to the highest bidder. Viacom is in the process of putting in their own bid to buy both networks, although it's well known that they only want the SCI-FI Channel. So, if you're inclined, it would be great for ALL fans to write to Viacom, and it's subsidiaries, UPN and Showtime. Why UPN and Showtime?? It's always a possibility that Viacom might not end up buying SCI-FI and the USA Network. If that happens, UPN and Showtime are good networks that are always in need some programming and Farscape makes for good programming, don't you think?? But, it takes letters and emails for them to know that we want Farscape and if they come and purchase more Farscape, we will follow. For the Viacom owned networks, it would probably be best to ask for a renewal of the Farscape franchise on their particular network instead of stressing a need for a science fiction channel, but, again, DEMOGRAPHICS AND SHOW THEM WHAT A VALUABLE RESOURCE YOU WOULD BE FOR THEIR NETWORK. the networks, it is better to write HANDWRITTEN letters because networks have a tradition of believing that one handwritten letter represents a 1000 viewers. | You got it! Started writing new letters yesterday, so I'll include one to Viacom, too. Thanks for the contact info for Viacom. It's sometimes so hard to wade through all the messages on Watch Farscape's board that I often forget why I went there in the first place. ![]() |
