Would they have done better??(spoilers for The New Jedi Order books)

Well so far in several novels the point has been brought up that the Empire in its prime would ahve been able to kick the Yuzhan Vongs butts back to where ever they came from.


Now then the argument that the Empire would have been able to defeat the vong is this, the Emperor would have squished them quickly, because they were a threat to his power, and wouldnt have been stalled by other peoples doubts, also they talk about how the Imperial Navy was the biggest baddest navy around, that it wouldnt have even broken a sweat taking the Vong down.


Now the other argument is that if the Empire could be toppled by a band of rebels then they wouldnt have stood a chance against the combined might of the Yuzhan Vong. Han Solo made a good point also in saying that the Emperor would have most likely just built a really big super weapon and used it to try and wipe the vong out, but something would go wrong and the whole thing would just go boom

so what do u think?

Han, having been in the Imperial navy, knows what he's talking about. :upto: The emperor's plan would have blown up in his face.

The Empire might have been able to make a dent in the Vong's military, but they'd eventually be swarmed under by the Vong's superior numbers and the fact that the Vong incorporate conquered peoples into its own society as slaves. The Empire would also lose worlds whos government might see the Vong as the "lesser" of two evils and just capitulate. It happened to the Republic; it would have happened to the Empire, too.

Of course, the Emperor wouldn't have any compunctions about killing his own subjects, though, so his "kill everything that moves" approach might have been able to slow the Vong advance more decisively than the Republic's touchy feely method.

I think the Vong would eventually come out on top against the Empire, though.

well i first off i dont think that the empire would have been destroyed cause the vong had superioir numbers, i think that they would have been even in that, i mean the empire had a whole freaking lot of Star Destroyers, But what i think their biggest problem would ahve been, would have been adapting to the new tactics of the Vong, and learning to fight them. :rolly2:

Sorry, should have clarified about the numbers. The Vong are packed to the gills with die-hard warriors who are willing to die for their cause (and tons of slaves who did what they were told or died) while the Empire had LOTS of dissatified pilots, techs, scientists, etc, none of whom were listened to anyway.

You're right about the Empire not being able to adapt. I doubt that Palpatine would have even felt threatened (up to a point... the point of no return) by the Vong and he would have ignored anyone who tried to convince him otherwise. That inflexability would definately doomed him and his empire.

True the vong warriors are Willing to fight to the death, but as we have seen that can be used against them to deadly effect at the battle of Ebaq 9, im not saying that the Emperor would have seen that, but who knows, and if u remember the description of Stormtroopers is that they are die hard fanatical warriors, well i realize they arent all die hard warriors, but a majority of them are, and i think they would be a decent match to the vong, and remember also the empire has lost of stormies:rolly2:

The Empire was to arrogant. They would have been crushed. As Luke Skywalker said in RotJ to the Emperor:

although i would agree with u, i would also point out that the Yuzhan Vong also have that weakness, they think that they are supperior to all other species, as we have seen many times, and this is a point that has been used against them many times, much to their own misfurtune:rolly2:
