Maybe the firefly guns are representing more efficant guns or something. I'm more of a bloodied knife person, would rather see someone stabbed through the heart and see blood spurting out as the heart pumps then see gashing bullet wounds.

yowch! I think it has become acceptable to show ppl getting shot with guns, lasers, phasers, whatever in sci-fi, but to show someone getting stabbed in that kind of detail would def relegate the show to either being shown late-night or being cut...

the guns they have thought they seem liek the olden days are actually more moden. they are projected by damn forgot.. all i know is it aint gunpowder sendin em shootin off

I look at it this way if I can overlook the fact that there happens to be all these colonized earths with no evidence of sentient ETs then I can overlook the guns.
Ps: how did they colonize the earth's? good old fashion terriforming?
