Some similarities between Angel S4 and Buffy S7?

I have been on a bit of a Buffy and Angel watching marathon recently, catching up to 7.16 and 4.13 respectively, and I keep thinking that I am catching overlaps between the two shows a lot.

The most obvious one is the appearance of the First's dopplegangers, the worry that there is a traitor in the midst of the Buffy gang, while in Angel (spoiler for UK peeps - episode 11 onwards) Cordelia appears to have been possessed or replaced by the Beast's master, we see one of our heroes in league with the Big Bad, or AS the Big Bad. There are similar themes in the "who stole Angel's soul", and "who is really the first?" bits

Former Bad guy hanging out with the gangs - and not really being much use.
Spike and Andrew in Buffy Lilah in Angel

This is a minor one, but is this the first year that the characters within the show have used the terms "Big Bad"? Both shows have had instances of this, if so.

I am sure there are others, but these are the ones that popped up as I was writing.

Oh, just remembered a really obvious one - both seem to be facing the biggest bads ever, wouldn't they be trying to get some back-up from their former partners? I understand why they haven't previously, pressures of time etc, but in these instances both teams look like they need a LOT of help.

Total speculation here - but I'm thinking that both Angel Inc and the Scoobies are facing the *same* big bad -- but that's just my theory - and it would explain a lot of the similarities --

I think I've had other floating around in my head - I'll be back when I remember them ---

I am not including plot details, but Buffy/Angel viewers may need to know this:

According to an interview by scifiwire with David Boreanaz:

...both "Buffy" and "Angel" will offer clues to viewers that sets up Buffy's series finale in May.

[WARNING: Plot spoilers for both Buffy and Angel are included in the actual interview.]

again, avoiding the spoilers, but I've also been thinking that Angel & Buffy are facing the same Big Bad...

Spoilers for AtS through "Inside Out" and BtVS - most of S7

(but I'm not blocking them out - just be aware)

Okay - this is what my theory on the Big Bad is --

BtVS co are facing the non-corporeal First - it can't touch anything, but can take the form of anyone who's died -

AtS co are facing this nasty beasty and it has a master - and Cordy's pregnant --

so - what if the First has to be 'born' (using the term loosely here) to become corporeal?

So - Cordy's baby is the First - and will now be 'corporeal' and can wreak all the havoc it wants ----

And this still sort of fits now that the baby has been 'born' - but we don't know what it can do yet, except make men stupid - so, we'll see ----
