Agreed, she has a carefree attitude that comes from being one of the youngest of many children.

I think her lack of reference to a trainer or mentor when she's fixing something shows that she probably has a natural aptitude for mechanics and gleaned knowledge through observation instead of direct and focussed training.

She's a great feminist example too because she is equal to men without trying to be a man, always comfortable with her femininity and sexuality.

Hadn't thought of it like that but you're spot on. She knows who she is as a person in exactly the same way Jayne does, though perhaps in a slightly less course way. Though not much: one of my favourite lines of "Serenity" is the Kaylee/Mal/Jayne scene at the top of the stairs as they enter the twins' club and involves batteries. She doesn't NEED to be in a relationship/married etc., she is fully skilled (better than most men in fact) as an almost inherent ability and is relied on fully by her crew as a person to be competent to do that. Yet also loves the flouncy dresses for herself. What else is there to be a complete person?

Re: Kaylee Frye

And to think, some people thought she was just the mechanic with no personality! They haven't looked deep enough!
