RE: Farscape

Dear Mr. Levy:

My name is Ann Austin. I am a Texan here in the US, and I watch Farscape. I am writing in hopes of persuading UPN to purchase the program “Farscape.” Farscape is not only a complex, savvy show for adults, the audience who follows this series is of an age and has the fiscal ability to purchase any products advertised during the show.

The series is incredibly well written, with characters which have each grown substantially over four seasons. When the SciFi Channel chose to cancel this series, fans began one of the largest protests that has been seen in almost 20 years. The "protest" has actually been coordinated in major cities across the world, to include peaceful protesting in front of CNN and the SciFi Channel's offices. A group of soldiers in Afghanistan held their own "protest," and the fans have forwarded DVD's, videotapes, and other Farscape paraphanalia to those soldiers in thanks for their support, particularly during such a difficult time. The fan’s protest is reaching far and wide, and has includes letter writing and fund raising campaigns, during which the SciFi channel received boxes and boxes of crackers, written on them a twist from a title of one of the episodes, "Crackers DO Matter."

The demographics of Farscape fans are much more sophisticated than you might believe. Unlike most science fiction shows, the demographics show the primary viewers of Farscape are women between the ages of 35 and 50, each making approximately $150,000. per year, and extremely computer literate. This is not your usual majority group of viewers. Farscape fans are intelligent, savvy, and well able to purchase those products advertised during the hour of this show. I believe Farscape would be an excellent addition to UPN’s already stellar lineup.

Farscape is unique in many ways, and its fans are loyal, not only to the show, but to the sponsors who support this excellent program. If you are interested in obtaining further information about Farscape or the fan movement, as well as our loyalty to our sponsors, please feel free to go to www.WatchFarscape.com.

Thank you for considering my proposal regarding this highly entertaining series.

Sincerely yours,
