Hi. There is no way to avoid sounding like a dork, so I'm just going to jump in. I can NOT decipher the French City Con site. Can anyone tell me how much the tickets are? Does anyone know the website for the Reunion Island gig, whatever it is? Also, the Gatecon site? Have mercy on a noob. It'll be good for your karma. Truly. I swear! Thanks!

Cons Not too sure about the French site. I have a VIP ticket for it, but it took wandering around for awhile [and posting the con organizers a few times] to sort it all out. My high school German wasn't much help to me. I have no info on the Reunion Island con. Gatecon can be found at: Gatecon Rowan

Rowan, thanks for the info. Don't feel bad about your German failing you. My French was no help at all. : ) However, after 2 hours of surfing, I discovered a nifty euro to anything conversion site; a geography site where I found Reunion Island, but got distracted by the word "Jaffa" off the coast of Israel (a seaport, apparently); and these forums. Not a bad afternoon. : )

'Jaffa' Than you would have loved my reaction when I found myself walking through 'The Jaffa Gate' into Old Jerusalem. I had the chance to spend a month there in 2000 on a excavation team and a fellow dig member and I went into Jerusalem one weekend to wander. It was an increadable experience. Rowan

Kalyani, thanks so much for the info. I don't know if it's my computer or not, (it's powered by a little hamster wheel) but the French City Con site seems a little... spartan. You click on paypal, or check or anything, and it tells you everything except how much the tickets cost. Rowan, I love that you walked through the Jaffa Gate. I'm going to be an archeologist in my next life. With no kids. I know little Katherine got to play at the dig in Giza, but in real life she'd be complaining that her juice box was warm and she was bored and wanted a Happy Meal. : ) And if you can't go, let me know if you really want to sell your ticket. I'd hang on to it for a little while. Maybe the fares will go down?

I went in "English version" and found how to see the prices and take a ticket: when you're here: http://www.frenchcitycon.com/billets_index.htm you click on your american flag, and here you can choose your ticket, the quantity, and "Passer commande", etc. I don't know if it's what you would know; I just hope I helped you! I hope you and Rowan will come :rolly2: :rolly2: :rolly2: !!! Kalyani | |

Sorry for spreading alarm and despondency (I'm alarmed and despondent already ) but I've just heard that Michael's agent says Michael will not be going to the French Convention and indeed never had any plans to do so. ![]() Does anyone have any better information about this? Best wishes, Unhappy Hatshepsut  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE: Have had further information that someone in Australia has been trying to make trouble for the French con., and that it is in fact as originally advertised by Rowan. Phew!Sorry! Best wishes, Hatshepsut - happy now --

Hardly trying to make trouble, just set the record straight. We were concerned earlier this year that the French con had jumped the gun on announcing Michael as "confirmed" when they were probably just still in discussions. I decided to check on this in the last few weeks and asked a friend to contact his agent, and the response was that he is not doing the French convention, and had never been booked to do it. If anyone doubts this, they only have to contact his agent - she is obviously the only person who can answer definitively.

I am reliably informed that quite a lot of people have been doing exactly that, and that Michael is not happy about this disinformation. The original message I received was as follows: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you know anyone on the boards that intends to go to the French Stargate convention in November specifically to see Michael, then they should know his agent has confirmed recently that he has NO intention of doing that event (and never has). Anyone who wants to confirm that is welcome to speak to his agent. seeya...Pete Peter Fallon www.castlesoftware.com.au ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I know for a fact that part of the above message is incorrect. Any number of friends have said that Michael had every intention of attending the French Convention. He announced this at SFX in London in May, an event which rumour said he would also not be attending - but did... ![]() Now, if Michael had changed his mind about attending - having already announced his intention of so doing - then I think he would already have contacted the organizers of the French Convention at the earliest opportunity. Not to do so would be unprofessional and discourteous, and would thus reflect very badly on him, so I don't think he would act like that. If he had decided to withdraw, and had notified the French organizers, then I suspect that they, too, would have made an official announcement. If this is so, it has yet to reach my monitor. Again, for them to withhold such information would only be bad for them too, both in terms of getting hassle from disappointed fans, and possibly - I'm not a lawyer - legal entanglements for mis-selling or something. Now, nothing in life is certain and work commitments of domestic crises may change Michael's plans at very short notice, but at this point, I have no reason for thinking that he will not attend. And whether or not he does, my friends and I are still going and I'm sure we'll all enjoy ourselves. Best wishes, Hatshepsut  --

All I can report is what I was told, when I asked a direct question. Since I had seen people on the boards specifically booking FOR Michael I felt it was appropriate to mention it. I saw the transcipt from SFX you referred to, and I can't explain it - why he would know about something his agent does not. If he is there in late November I will happily eat crow. As you said, they have a great lineup otherwise, so it should be an interesting, if crowded event!
