Zen and the art of Buffy-watching

Open Court, which publishes 12 to 15 nonfiction titles a year, will continue their "Popular Culture and Philosophy" series with the April publication of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy: Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale

Almost 300 pages long the book contains twenty-three essays by young professional philosophers which examine crucial ethical and metaphysical aspects of the Buffyverse. Paperbacks go for $12.75 and cloth-bound for $17.47.

The Pop Culture series includes "Seinfeld and Philosophy: A Book About Everything and Nothing" (2000); "The Simpsons and Philosophy: The D'oh! of Homer" (2001) and "The Matrix and Philosophy: Welcome to the Desert of the Real" (2002).

Open Court publishes books in philosophy, eastern thought, psychology, comparative religion, social issues, and popular culture.

Go to www.opencourtbooks.com, click on their logo to enter the site and choose "Forthcoming Books" to find out more or pre-order.

I have this book - been working through it over the last month or so (got caught up in html'ing and writing and other things, so haven't finished it yet, but I'm just over 1/2 way) ---

It's pretty good - it's an interesting read. And let me tell you, if philosophy had been taught this way when I took it, I'd've remembered a WHOLE lot more!

I'm tellin' you - if they want ppl to remember stuff they're supposed to learn in school - 2 choices - tv or music - they'll remember everything!!
