[Tabitha: guess you might want to split this off into a new thread...] Well, the news that Sarah is leaving has been pretty much been covered, so I don't see any reason to splinter the thread. Let's continue with talk of the future. [Very mild spoilery follows] LINK-->Joss says in Yahoo! News: "We're not going to end it by saying, 'There can be no "Buffy" no more,"' Whedon said. "But it definitely has a message of emotional and thematic closure that's as important as anything we've said." He also said, naturally, that he will write and direct the finale. The title is "Chosen."

Okay gang, remember this is a spoiler thread... I'm afraid I have some bad news from a talk by Jane Esperson at Ball State University. - Faith is definitely out as a possible spin-off. - Willow seems unlikely. - There was discussion of a "Slayer School" but Joss seems off of that idea for now. - There may in fact be NO spin-off. As further indication that the end may be near, Jane announced that she will be joining the writing staff of the WB's "Gilmore Girls" next season.

According to a report on the MediaWeek.com website the networks have had discussions with their buyers about what they intend to offer next season. WB entertainment president, Jordan Levin, said ANGEL could return on Wednesday or Sunday and that the network was holding talks with Joss about adding characters from Buffy to the show. UPN entertainment president, Dawn Ostroff, did not mention to buyers ANY program offering from Joss. ===== There are reports surfacing that JAMES MARSTERS is telling fans that he will be joining ANGEL next season.

I saw that Mediaweek piece - do you think the WB are holding off on renewing Angel until they get confirmation of some BTVS characters moving over? Seems crazy that they would even be thinking of cancelling it with it being (probably) the only Whedon show on in the new tv year.

RE: JM on Angel - I've heard that he may be showing up on Angel - but not as a regular csat member - just guest appearances; I've also heard that AH might do guest spots too --- this is all rumor mill stuff - anything could happen -- What I've heard about this tho - is that AH and JM would guest on Angel - keeping some storyline options going and leaving things open for a spinoff later - again - just rumors -

"Somewhere down the line," says Anthony Stewart Head, "I reckon there will be a Buffy spinoff. There's no rush on my part, and I know the fans will wait... "Whatever happens here, Joss has created such a great stable of writers, directors and actors I have no doubt we'll all work together in the future. He has an extraordinary family and an immense amount of talent in one place. I don't see it disappearing--it's very strong. Bottom line is, Joss is the core." There are also some rumblings that Nic Brandon is working on a sit-com idea, but most agree (sadly) that that means he doesn't have anything solid lined up. Michelle and Alyson have said that they mostly want to focus on movies. Michelle will be shooting a movie with Lucy Lawless after Buffy ends. According to comingsoon.net: "The story revolves around two American high school pals on the verge of graduation. One is passing German courtesy of his German pen pal, who translates his homework. But when the German expresses feelings for the teen and suggests a meeting, the student rebuffs the mysterious writer, thinking it's the act of a sexual predator. He soon discovers the pen pal is actually a fetching fraulein, and the pair sets off on a trans-European road trip." Alyson will be working on the third in the "American Pie" series of "zany comedy" films. In this one her character gets married.
