| The thumbs down icon really says how I feel about this: Quote:
What do you think? It doesn't seem to fit with any of the rules we imposed upon ourselves for coming up with a good title the (see Name Episode III. [edited to add: the above information comes from Corona.bc.ca - http://www.corona.bc.ca/films/details/sw3.html ]

| Well, even if it DID have the endorsement of TheForce.net behind it, which it doesn't, I'll still take this with a grain of salt. Things "reported" this early in the process are usually just rumors and have little if any credibility. As for the "title" being proposed, I don't have any problems with it, except that it repeats the phrase "of the" and I honestly think that would do it in. For continuity's sake and pure poetic charm (for lack of a better term) there should only be one "of the" anything in each trilogy. If Lucas wants to keep the titles of each trilogy similar, then Episode III's title should be something does something, like The Empire Strikes Back, not another something "of the" something. If Lucas really doesn't give a dren what we think or how his two trilogies fit together in a literary or poetic sense, then he'll call Episode three whatever he damn well pleases. Cynical, eh? Re: The Phantom Menace, why didn't you like the title? I thought it was great, especially if you listened to Obi-Wan (like I intuitively did ) and understood at the beginning what he was sensing. This vague, mounting danger to all Jedi was only barely mentioned and we had to remember it and piece it together with the rest. Personally, I initially thought Attack of the Clones was much worse... too cheesey for me, but it really grew on me once I understood Lucas' desire to remind us of the old serial movies of the fifties and sixties. Attack of the Clones is very reminiscent of that time and sensibility.Any other opinions? |

| Regarding the Phantom Menace - I am not sure exactly why I didn't like the title, it just seemed a bit silly. I think it might just be the actual words that were used, as I don't have a problem at all with what the title is actually about. I think maybe it is just camp beyond words as I see it. I think you are right in there being a likely symmetry in titles between trilogies one and two, and that a phrase in the style of "The Empire Strikes Back" would be needed in that case. Quote:

And by the way, I was watching a "Cribs" on MTV, and I saw some guy with a "Revenge of the Jedi" cinema poster on his wall. I never realised they got that far with the merchandising of the original name!

| Those Revenge of the Jedi posters and patches aren't really worth that much anymore, sadly. Lucasfilm even allowed licensed copies to be produced just a few years ago as a kind of salute to the original title. This, and the fact that so many bootleg copies of the original posters were produced, actually reduced the value of the originals. They were worth the most within a year of the film's release and only dropped in value since. But any word of the new film's title probably won't be "official" until about a year from now, anyway. I usually pay NO attention to rumors, so I doubt I'll be shocked when the official word finally does come out. Anyone been watching the web cams of the filming? |

| If you subscribe to the online newsletter, they tell you how you can... problem is, they charge for this "hyperspace" style subscription. Not like George has enough of my money already, eh? |

| I agree with most everybody here. Until they start posting it everywhere on their website and officially release it, I'm not gonna put any stock in any of the rumours. And I didn't think the Phantom Menace was _that_ bad of a name, but it doesn't feel like it fits with the earlier trilogy's titles. (that continuity thing again, lol) ~ana |

| Wherever I Am, I'm There | I still couldn't believe he called it 'Attack of the Clones' until I actually saw it. That was the worst title of all. 'A New Hope' is fairly bland too! 'The Empire Strikes Back' ~ now there is a GOOD title for a film. How about 'Jedi Apocalypse' or 'Death to the Jedi'? We had speculation of a title in another thread here though, and I prefer something like 'Dark Side Rising' or 'Fall of the Jedi'. They are more in the style of the previous titles. |
