I missed the first couple of minutes of the episode, i came into it where Spike was chained up having a nose bleed. Did anything interesting happen before that?

Um - I think that Buffy and Spike were talking - not sure what about - but they're talking and he gets this weird look on his face - kind of a 'lost in space' look - and says "Ow."

Spike: "Ow."
Buffy: "Ow?" (confused)
Spike: "Ow. OW!" (repeats several times and clutches head)

I don't know if there was much before that - can't remember -

I'll go watch again (don't have to twist my arm, I liked this ep ) and let you know - unless someone beats me to it --

Just realised i was wrong about the nosebleed part, that came later. I saw it from a few seconds before the "ow" part that H2 mentioned. I wondered if anything was said about Giles taking the SiT's into the desert, because that was only briefly mentioned later in the episode.

Ok - now I remember the beginning --

All the girls are out in the car, and Anya and Xander (I think) maybe Dawn - come in and tell Giles he should get out there pretty quick b/c they're fighting over who gets to drive and Buffy makes a comment about Giles not having renewed his CA driver's license --

I think the next bit is Buffy going down to see Spike, but not 100% ---

Talking WOOHOO, GILES IS ALIVE!

Ok, comments. Firstly, i am soooooooo happy that Giles isn't dead. Though the whole situation still seems kinda suspicious - why would Giles just leave his unconcious and possibly fatally wounded friend without even calling an ambulance? And why did Robson leave it so long to phone?

I liked Spike in this episode, how the camera would pan round at random moments and show him laid on the floor groaning. I wonder what Buffy's going to do? On one hand, without the chip Spike could help fight evil more easily. On the other hand, without the chip he is just another Angel, ready to go on a killing spree as soon as he loses his soul. Hmm, dilemma.

Once again, Andrew was pure class in this episode.

Andrew: If you don't take me i'll just do something evil. You know... set fire to stuff... or glue stuff together! :laugh2:

I liked the scene at the end too, when everyone dives on top of Giles. Giles also had some great lines.

Giles: I assume there's a perfectly reasonable and not-at-all insane explanation coming, yes?

and

Giles: Wait a minute.. you think i'm evil if i take a group of girls on a camping trip and don't touch them?!? :laugh2: ROFL

I think this is definately one of the best episodes this season. Keep up the good work Joss!

Um - from "Crush"

Buffy: Well, I do beat him up alot. For Spike, that's like 3rd base.

From "First Date"

Buffy: Why does everyone think I'm still in love with Spike?

From "Fool For Love"

Buffy: (about Spike killing the Chinese Slayer) "You got off on it." (with a disgusted look)
Spike: "Well, yeah." (looks at Buffy like she's stupid)

Sorry, mark - she was and may still be in love with Spike. AND she knows that he gets off on violence and killing and being beaten up. And those are just 3 quotes - I'm sure I can find more.
Well, I don't think that Spike was the only one who got off on violence - remember that for the majority of S6, Buffy's dividing her time between beating Spike up and having sex with him. And sometimes straight afterwards too. Their relationship's always been based on violence and passion - so sometimes it's difficult to know where one start and the other stops. So for the record, yeah, I think that Buffy knew and that there was a part of her that felt the same, only she didn't want to admit it. Having said that, she was in a bad place at the time and things have really changed between her and Spike now, I think now she could be falling in love for real.

Well, my comment 'I think Buffy's in love with Spike' -- actually, I meant as far back as S5 --- just after he gets the chip in his head - and even before Riley splits --- that's what I was talking about, yeah, now too, but S5 as well --

And no, I really didn't make that comment to irritate Markpud - it's just my theory - Buffy doesn't hate Spike - she's in love with him. "You always hurt the one you love, pet." -- Spike Dead Things --

and goes back to the dunking the pigtails in the ink - boys only pick on the girls they like -- same for girls - they pick on the guys they like --- so, why else would Buffy beat Spike up just to get him to help her? b/c you know she had to know that Spike would've helped anyway - she beat him up b/c she knew he got off on it -- not to mention, she probably got some thrills from it too ---

The question nobody is asking???

Ok, first off, let me just say that I realize nobody has posted on this thread in over a month. So I'm going to give a little info as to why I'm jumping in so late.

I bought all of the eps from season 7 on ebay and only recently started watching them. (one or two a night) I've seen every episode of the series at least twice, so don't think I'm new to the series or anything, I just had problems keeping up with the current season so I just gave up and waited till I could get them all at once.

Rambling....

Ok, I'm about to get to my point.

I've been reading the posts on this forum for each ep after I watch it. Initially because I thought I missed something. I couldn't figure out what happened to Giles and I figured I missed the explanation on how he escaped the axe.

Anyway, I've seen a lot of discussion on Spike. Mostly about how Spike is like Angel now because of the soul and everything. I've seen it mentioned a couple of times that Spike should be given more credit for his current Soul-ishness than Angel because Spike got it on his own whereas Angel was cursed.

So my question is: Has everyone forgotten that Spike wasn't trying to get his soul? He was trying to get the chip removed/deactivated so that he could kill people (specifically buffy) again. Remember his little speech on the way out of town at the end of S6, or just about everything he said to the Demon who made him go through the trials?

Again, I know this is over a month late and it's possible that this was already brought up later in the season, but I'm only up to "The Killer In Me" so this is current events for me.

James Marsters has commented that he was led to believe, until the very last possible moment, that Spike was going to get his chip deactivated in Africa. He said it was a big surprise when he read the script to discover that Spike was going to teach Buffy a lesson by getting his soul back. It was never Spike's intention to get his chip deactivated, it was a trick by Joss to make the audience believe that so the final scene in Grave would be a complete surprise for everyone.

Spike - "Get nice and comfy, Slayer. I'll be back. And when I do ... things are gonna change. "

Spike - "Do your worst. But when I win ... I want what I came here for."

Spike - "Do your worst. But when I win ... I want what I came here for...bitch is gonna see a change."

Spike - "So you'll give me what I want. Make me what I was. So Buffy can get what she deserves."

Hey, Franknj229, Welcome to ASciFi.com.

My name is OB-Wan and I'm the moderator of the Buffy forums. If you have any questions about how the board works or anything, please do not hesitate to ask. You'll find everyone here helpful and friendly.

Sammy is right. Sadly, they never really cleared that up in the show. Even though Spike says later that he went to get his soul back, you could still think that he was only saying that after the fact.

Joss told everyone after the season ended during interviews. In fact, that's when James found out. As Sammy says, James was acting the part as if he was seeking a chip-ectomy.

It's the kind of thing you wouldn't know unless you followed the stories between the seasons. It should probably be included in the background on one of the CDs - probably as a lead-in to Season Seven.

Once again welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here.

I was a little dissappointed with Kennedy during her confrontation with Amy. Amy gives her the magical pimp-slap, sure, but I think when Amy was about halfway through her explaination, Kennedy should have just sucker punched Amy. I suppose that would have ruined the ending, though.

In a similar vein, when did Amy get evil? She was misguided and irresponsible before, but Buffy and co. saved her life. You'd think she'd be more grateful. I think Next ep. Willow should go teach Amy a lesson.
This is one of my major complaints about the series actually. I'm disappointed that the show's writers didn't spend more time developing the (non-romantic) relationship between Willow and Amy. On the surface, Amy is now evil because Rack's dark magic likely corrupted her. Beneath the surface, I think that she's dealing with a whole host of issues. First, back in Season 3, in "Gingerbread", certain members of the community try to burn her at the stake; she escapes by turning herself into a rat. I think that this persecution still resonates with her, and it's why she enjoys playing tricks on people in the Bronze in Season Six, and why she forms her own evil coven by Season Seven. Second, I think she's at least a bit miffed that Willow rejected her attempted friendship back in Season Six. True, Amy enjoyed getting off on dark magic, and Willow (with the help of her friends) realized that the addiction was wrong. So, she broke off her friendship with Amy. Willow did the right thing, but Amy doesn't think so. Therefore, Amy places a curse on Willow partly as punishment for breaking off the friendship and partly in an attempt to get her hooked onto dark magic again. I also think that Amy placed the exact curse on Willow because a part of her might have wanted to kill Tara herself. Barring that, she tortures Willow by reminding her of who killed Tara, and thus sort-of lives through Warren. Lastly, I think that being a rat for three years must have made Amy at least a bit crazy . Ultimately, I think that Amy tortured Willow with the curse in an attempt to seduce her over to her side. Unfortunately, she underestimated Willow's will power (hey, I just noticed that pun--"Will power" ) and suffered the consequences. But she's not dead, so she might return in the Season Eight comic book series .
