Protest?! Has anyone else seen or heard this? http://www.twotowersprotest.org/ I am just as outraged as anyone else about what happened on September 11, 2001. However it seems a bit excessive to me to protest the name of a movie that was based on a book that was written almost a half century before this happened.

Yes, I saw this site and thought it was one of the most exploitive ideas I've seen to date. As if the attacks weren't bad enough, now idiots find something to complain about that has nothing at all to do with it, and work to milk every last drop out of 9-11 sentiment. Last I heard the WTC was called "the twin towers," not "The Two Towers." There are other "two tower' structures in the world. Is there some reason to rename all of them for fear of treading on 9-11 sensitivities? And for those of us in the DC area, we should rightly demand that all 5-sided polygons be renamed so as not to conflict with the Pentagon. I found an online "protest petition." Fortunately, the page has been suspended for lack of interest. Perhaps most people are sensible enough to know that the book and the movie have nothing to do with current affairs. There is hope. ![]()

That is so ridiculus! I read the whole site and it says that many of their supporters are fans of JRR Tolkien. If this is true, then they would know that the books were written and published decades before 9-11. It also said that the title would cause people to feel like they felt following 9-11. I don't see how the title of that movie could possibly cause that.

I feel I must be paricularly dense. I lost a neighbor and very nearly lost one of my oldest friends, both in the Pentagon. And yet when I heard the title of the film the idea of 9-11 never crossed my mind at all. Didn't think or feel a thing; never had a clue until I saw that silly protest. Some people are just thinking way too hard. ![]()

What a surprise...though that could be either do to the intelligence of the public or the lack of awareness of the protest. And as I don't have much faith in the public's intelligence, I'm inclined to go with the latter.
